popeye76 Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 dumb question but is a legit sledge lever when you bring the sledge down to your forehead or nose and lever it back up to the starting point or just lever it down and thats it. sorry so technical but i injured my thumb pretty bad levering a 10lb sledge to my nose. i am thinking i went to far. would levering down to the forehead be far enough or what. i would like to post a pic but i don't know how. Bearcat 74 Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 Gotta bring it back up. Quote Real Name: Heath Sexton Even if you are on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there. Alawadhi Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 If you can bring it down in controlled manner then bringing up will not be problem. But if it was only down anyone will lever any weight they want. But their faces and noses must pay the price Quote Read about me in my biography. vikingsrule92 Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 Yeah pretty much the point of levering is bringing it back up. As Alawadhi said, otherwise anyone could lever any weight they want. Quote

Yes, it can be painful. I hurt/injured my thumb/wrist area last fall, basically from doing these too hard (that and the vbar). dimmers Posted July 14, 2007 Posted July 14, 2007 yeah, i agree with the above, start off slow with levering as its very tough going on the wrists (not to mention your face if you lose your grip if just starting off i'd lower that sledge to the side of your face, a lot safer. Quote
Tim71 Posted July 16, 2007 Posted July 16, 2007 I've got a silly question too since I just started sledges a few days ago. Does anybody just try to lift them off the floor in the front? I thought I saw a pic of Slim doing that and to me it's REALLY hard. Going to the rear seems to be easier to me. Tim Quote

Tim I've seen people do it, Wes tried it with a 12 lb. sledge and held i for a few secs, I could barely get a 6 lb. Yeah I agree, it's really hard. Quote

Tim I like this variation a lot, when my wrists are not injured I can hold out a 12lb sledge for several seconds paralell with the ground Edit: LOL just saw Derek's post Edited July 16, 2007 by Wes Quote There is a natural order. The way things are meant to be. An order that says the good guys always win, that you die when it's your time or when you have it coming, that the ending is always happy-if only for someone else.
dimmers Posted July 16, 2007 Posted July 16, 2007 there's a vid posted here not too long ago of Goody doing a 12lb front sledge lever, was very cool. found the post with the link in (link by Jedd) http://www.gripboard.com/index.php?showtop...t=0&start=0 Quote
