kelby Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 did you ever try levering a kitchen steel chair. those suckers are hard, i did it today. just grab the bottom of the front leg. try it harder than you think. i also levered the wooden chairs, but they are easier. these are chrome plated steel chairs. antarath Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 I do that every day at work. Mostly with folding trolleys Mats Quote Real name: Mats Erik Engelsvoll
j.scribner Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 Kelby- I thought I was the only guy nuts enough to do that. I do it at work with wooden chairs and use both hands. The people I work with have gotten used to it and don't make fun of me anymore about it. You can get a pretty decent wrist workout while on break. John Scribner Quote The way you train is the way you react. (Benny "the Jet" Urquidez) A good friend will come and bail you out of jail. A true friend will be sitting next to you, saying, "Damn, that was fun..."
jad Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 my mother-in-law has those heavy, old school wooden dining room chairs. I still can't do the thing where you pick it up by the front leg while keeping it level Quote Proud member of the Feat Cheaters Club! Captain of Crush 2003-2011 Josh Dale Wentzville, MO
Whimp Posted July 8, 2007 Posted July 8, 2007 thinner bar stools can also be fun Quote [x]#1 [x]#2 [x]#3
JoeGrip Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 I used to do a formulator type thing w/ the back rest of my kitchen chairs. Quote
Anuwbius Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 This is a great party trick sort of thing and a great challenge to try every chair you come across. I read somewhere (I still dont know if I believe it) that some high ranking military official who was known for his superb physical ability was able to do this with a person sitting on the chair. Crazy who knows. Quote My Gallery Ethan Wolf, CSCS
hab34buy Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 Heh... I didn't know there were this many people who did this type of thing . This is one of the things that made me interested in strength training when I was a child. I seem to remember hearing about it in regards to my Grandfather doing this with different size chairs (or something to that effect) and it made me curious. Every once and awhile I give it a go (though probably with much smaller chairs then all of you), though not so much in recent times. It is a rather good strain on the wrist... neat to hear others do it. Quote Jared "JW" Walker Goals: To Reach Tomorrow What I Couldn't Today
kelby Posted July 9, 2007 Author Posted July 9, 2007 try the steel chairs, they are alot harder than wooden ones. it is a cool party trick, never met a guy that can do it yet. and it is a hell of a workout for the wrist. i sometimes challenge people with a broomstick, we rest the stick on our shoulders, and grab it with both hands and see who can twist the broomstick . Quote
hab34buy Posted July 9, 2007 Posted July 9, 2007 Never heard the broomstick one. I'll have to find a victim... er, challenger . Sounds like fun. I've never done levers with any metal chairs, just big old wooden chairs, so I have something to keep on the watch for... Quote Jared "JW" Walker Goals: To Reach Tomorrow What I Couldn't Today
kelby Posted February 2, 2008 Author Posted February 2, 2008 wooden chairs are actually way lighter than the steel ones. but wooden chairs looks more impressive because of the size difference Quote
