lifesnotfair Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 It says on the Ironmind page that Wes now makes it official that he has a world-class crushing grip... BUT... don't you guys think that considering how new the gripping sport is, and how many strong guys are appearing all over (me NOT being one of them, of course), CCS'ing a #3 will no longer be "world class" in a matter of a short time? Quote
Wes Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 Thanks everyone. LNF, grip has been around for a while the earliest British Iron Grip contest was 1991, 16 years ago.. Hardly "new". Quote There is a natural order. The way things are meant to be. An order that says the good guys always win, that you die when it's your time or when you have it coming, that the ending is always happy-if only for someone else.

Scott Styles Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 CCS on a new #3 out of the package is pretty freakin' world class in my mind. Congratulations Wes! Quote You don't get a dog and do the barking yourself.
lifesnotfair Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 Thanks everyone. LNF, grip has been around for a while the earliest British Iron Grip contest was 1991, 16 years ago.. Hardly "new". Wes, it's not "new", but more and more people are giving it a go it seems. If it's like you say, that it "has been around since 1991", then why up until 1998 there were only 12 certified CoC's ? That's a 7-year span. Look how many people certified in 2002-2003, it was growing very rapidly, that list. Then the CCS rule came.. I dunno exactly when, but from looking at the list at least I noticed that after Martin certified in 2004 there have been a bit over 20 more certifications. Him was CCS cert. for sure, but I dunno how many before him were CCS or not. Still, even with the CCS rule, there have been more in the past 2-3 years than from 1991-1997 which is twice the time. So, I think it's not fair to say that the sport is hardly new... it might not be new, but 10 years ago there were much fewer people trying grippers and this kind of things, than now. Or so I would guess! Also, I wasn't saying that your grip wasn't world class... you can CCS a #3.5, I think that's world class of course!! Quote
thearm95 Posted June 19, 2007 Posted June 19, 2007 CCS on a new #3 out of the package is pretty freakin' world class in my mind. Congratulations Wes! Yeah, evidenced by the very few people who have officially done it. Awesome, Wes, congratulations! - Duncan Quote Duncan.
