CaptainCrush Posted June 15, 2007 Posted June 15, 2007 Alright guys it seems my bending progress has went down the shitter The bending of the grand bastard has stopped me at just about 2.5 inches in between ends and the mag bastard stuck to around 90 degrees. This has been the same over the past month I'd say. For all the guys who have bent the Grand Bastard and beyond, what was your training like, your warm ups and also how many days rest a week were you getting? All of your guys help would be greatly appreciated! Chad Quote
Jedd Johnson Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 Maybe adding in some good tough isometric work will get you through that plateau, amigo. bencrush Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 Do you think it's more a form issue or a strength issue? If you think your form could be polished some more, then increasing your volume on slightly easier bars of the same length as your goal stock (Grand first) will help. If it's strength then there are a million ways to tackle that issue. Mix it up man. I used to bend with a higher frequency than some of the others and that worked for me. There are other guys who can bend once a month (John Beatty) and still are world class benders. Find what works for you and then beat it until it doesn't work anymore. Then find something else that works for you and commence beating that for as long as you can. Quote

So pretty much just get some harder pieces that I can't bend and just go to town on em at different points in the bend? I'm definitly gonna start doing this for todays workout. Thanks Bro! Quote

I can get the mag and grand bastard moving pretty good off the start but as soon as it hits 90 degrees its like I have nothing left, really can't get in a comfortable position to to get it moving far enough where I can wrap both hands around it for the crush. I know it's gotta be a lack of strength in this area. I'll try to switch some things up and see what happens within the next month. I wish I wasn't so impatient as to get on the Grand and Magnificent Bastard Cert list. Quote
Booyah!!! Posted June 16, 2007 Posted June 16, 2007 (edited) I totally agree with Jedd and Ben. Maybe also try some other type of steel for some PRs, maybe Hex stock? Stainless? I/we occasionally get into an overtrained state and at that time we use it to take a 2 week break and usually end up making some sort of PR. I am starting a new workout that will consist of All out effort Volume workout 1 day and about 50-75 Percent 1 day for maybe 2 reps/Bends. I think consistency, determination and patience are also valuable tools. I am sure you will get those Bastards Edited June 16, 2007 by Booyah!!!
