please feel free to add anything else in that i've missed.

I think to certify closing a #3 now you have to train on credit card close.

In the past, and even now I've always found reps to be good for me.

Secondly the strap hold was useful, and inverted was fun for a change and good for armwrestling.

maybe i should clarify a bit, i'm not to bothered if people replying to this post are a certified CoC, just if they've closed a number 3 (or any other tough gripper), just to get a feel for what methods have been used by these people.

thanks in advance guys!

cheers

Nice thinking - esp the multiple choice. Although the results / votes are still low it's interesting to see what has been voted for.

negs, overcrushes and filing helped me get to a CoC#3. I also did a lot of inverted closes. I was able to close a CoC#3 inverted before normal way up. I also rate hand recovery techniques and rest.

I voted for chokers and high volume but apparently my high volume vote didn't register.

BTR is like bacon. You can put it on anything and it makes it better.

Yes I have used chokers.

No they did not help me.

Straps, high volume, low volume, BTR overcrushes and rest are the best things I have used.

Extended handles really help IMO.

If you get 2 pipes with the same length as the normal handles, just slide them over a little further each time until your back on the original length.

The reason I hated to train grippers was because it was difficult to see progress. Now I'm training more seriously with the #3 for about 2 weeks and I can close it with an extension of only 1/5" while the extension was about 1/2' when I started. Now I finally see progression ;)

thank you everyone for the replies so far, although not many votes have been made as of yet, this is still turning out to be quite an interesting poll.

chokers didn't seem to help me at all. My favorites are filled grippers and overcrushes.

Experiment! What might work for you might not work for someone else.

Example: I responded big time to severe negatives; they do not work for everyone.

Also, believe in yourself and "keep your eyes on the prize" (closing the #3, for example). Too many guys give up because they think they can never close a tough gripper.

Lastly, ASK QUESTIONS when you need help.... that's what we're here for after all!! :D

Good post sybersnott, i believe you're right in saying what works for one may not work for another. It's just interesting seeing an overall picture in the poll.

thanks again for all the replies! i can see already that negatives is a firm favourite. Maybe time to give them another go, we shall see.

Neg crushes, straps, BTR, getting the alarm response, OC's, developing overall grip strength too by working pinch too. In general, I don't believe what works for one won't work for another. It's like saying squats and deadlifts will not work for everyone. We are all human after all.

What I think that has helped me most is doing reps and btr.

I figured btr&high volume would have more votes.

Posted (edited)

I haven't vote because I still can't close a hard gripper. But the poll is funny. Only 13 people voted that they trained with choker and 16 not training with choker. And for the second question [(if yes above) Did you find it helpful]9 people voted yes and 20 for no??? Hows that? It should be 13 like the amount of people that voted that they train choker .It seems like all the people voted for not training choker they also voted for that choker wasn't helpful (or maybe it’s a must to vote?). So my question is if you didn't train with choker how do you know it wasen't helpful?

You can assume that four of the thirteen didn't find a choker helpful as nine did. So the remaining sixteen haven't used chokers and apparently haven't read the questions properly either! :laugh
