Fbbc Stock Progression And Horseshoe Bending (vid)

I just got a FBBC advanced bender's bag in the mail and despite having read the sticky on stock calibration I still can't work out the progression order. I've looked elsewhere and I may be having a stupid day, but can't seem to find a list of the order in which to go after them.

I'm pretty happy that the 1/4" round steel is the weakest and increases in difficulty as the length decreases, but after that I'm not sure when the grade 5 bolts get harder than the 1/4" square (if at all) and I'd really like to be able to find an ordered way of building up towards the 5/16" round stock.

Any help and pointers would be much appreciated, I doubt it's important but I'm primarily a DU bender.

On a more positive note I gave horseshoe bending a quick go and managed to get a StCroix forge horseshoe with a 0 on one of the ends to bend. Here's a video of it, any pointers on form or other things I'm doing wrong would also be appreciated.

I've found out there's a few farriers in the area (I'm not far from the Newmarket race track so there's actually quite a few) and I'm going to try and use them to source more horseshoes, hopefully second hand and cheap. Do any other UK members have reccomendations of brands to try or ones to avoid?

Sakura is near terminally inquisitive and is afraid of nothing (she's kinda thick), she doesn't even mind me bursting cans and will just sit there watching.

I got my shoe to the same point as you but have not managed to finnish it

I just bent the St. Croix 0 a few days ago.

I got it around the same as you. Wish i could turn it into a heart.

That thing gave me about 10 bruises and 1 of them is really nasty.

What band and song is playing in the video? They ROCK :rock

Ok.. here we go kinda in this order and FBBC Stock

1/4 7" Round

1/4 6" Round

1/4 7" Hex

1/4 6" Hex (some people say that a 6" piece of Hex is kinda the same as a grade 5, me I find it a touch easier) 1/4 Grade 5

1/4 7" Square

1/4 Grade 8

1/4 6" Square

5/16 Bastard

So on and so on. More if anything you can add drill Rods and stuff but that gets kinda confusing at first.

I found that when I could bend a 6.5-6" piece of steel I could move up but I'm a DO bender.

Hope this helps

http://www.gripfaq.com/gb/FBBCSteelProgression.jpg here's the link for FBBC steel and some others as far as steel progression and calibrations as done by Eric Milfield. This should help you out (it helped me). Great bend on the horseshoe and your cat looks and acts just like mine.

Thanks for the help everyone, think I know where I'm going with this now. unfotrunately yesterdays shenanigans has left me with some great palm bruises so no bending for a little while, the hip and leg bruises are fun as well.

The song is KMFDM - 'a drug against war'
