Reverse Bending Session Today

I wasn't feeling too strong today, and actually didn't feel like bending at all.

But since I received the generous gift of several FBBC stock from moser1972 (Thanks again Thorsten! ;)), I just had to bend something.

First I started with the 7" 1/4 square without warming up (This was stupid, I know), this resulted in a kink of approx. 10 degrees and then my left bicep started to hurt really bad :(

So I got pissed of by that bar and finished it off DO.

Then I gave the 6" G5 a go, got it pretty easily but my biceps was really bothering me. Got it to approx. 42 degrees.

I've put this on vid but didn't bother to upload it.

After finishing the vid I've also finished it DO.

Then I took a rest for about an hour and got back on the attic again (where my equipment is) to give the 5.5 5/16 HRS a go, this went down pretty easily but still that damn bicep!

I've also put this on vid but didn't bother to upload it. Got this one to approx. 50-55 degrees. also finished it DO.

Finally I've took a shot at the G5 5.5". Although my bicep was still hurting like hell, I couldn't resist bending this thing as well. It was quite hard since my arm hurted too much to actually bend smoothly, but I got it.

This one I did upload to youtube and I've also sent a PM to Frankyboy for cert.

Although it's just over 40 degrees (42-43) it should be sufficient to be certified I hope ;)

Here's the vid of the bend: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HgnkFcZqYSA

Don't mind the outfit, It was very hot in the attic and I don't really look good in shorts :tongue

Next up is the G8, the Bastard and the 1/4 square, not necessarily in that order.

Thanks guys!

I still have to master the reverse technique though, maybe it's better for me to have my arms further away from my body.

I will try some other ways soon and hopefully the G8 and 1/4 square will go down as well ;)

Thanks guys, will warm up next time...

I guess this injury has it's origin in a arm wrestling game at work. One of the guys there used 2 arms to try and win. although I managed to keep him from pushing my arm on the table, it resulted in my arm hurting at the place where the muscle is attached to the bone (dunno what it is called in english). This was a few weeks ago. I think that's the main reason why it came back during a bend.

If I'm smart I'll wait until it is healed completely, but it's too difficult to see that steel lying around without touching it ;)

Ive found that sore biceps is inherant in reverse style no matter what I try. Its probably bad technique for me, but I know several other revsrse benders get the same prob, and Im reasonably strong in the bicep region so it cant be a strenth thing I feel. warming up is a huge thing and getting the tendons use to the load by easy volume work, just my 2 pennies.

Try to become the type of person others do not normally encounter in this world

Well there's a difference between sore and this, if I keep bending through it, then I won't be able to lift as much as a pencil for at least half an hour after the bend. As you can imagine this doesn't really help for bending ;)

I just have to learn the technique since strength in my bicep won't be the problem either ;)

;) Much?

It was a sarcastic statement ;)

Well it's really terrible. Luckely I don't feel it now anymore, but I'm still careful with it since I still have to bend a G8 Reverse, a 1/4 square and a bastard ;)

Just a heads up You might want to modify your technique slightly as your hands are dipping below waste level which is cause for a failed bend in the rule books other than that theres plenty of strength there just try and do the same with your hands at chest height this should stop your hands dipping below waist level as its best to correct your style now before you try and cert.

Thanks for the tip. I can't see any reason why a reverse bend should be above waist level since you're not bracing it against your legs or anything, but it's better to do it right right away ;)

I am only pionting it out to help you for future certs as i would hate you to be not approved because of this its in the Reverse bending rules and also the Do rules laid out by david and Pat i personally think as long as your not making contact with the legs its fine as theres no assist but rules are rules so just thought i would mention it anyway its on Davids website if you want to familiarise yourself with them.

I didn't mean to offend you Gazza, just like I said, thanks for the tip, I didn't realize it during the bend since this just felt natural ;)

But I still believe it shouldn't make a difference if it's not braced, but that's maybe something for the rule makers to decide :tongue

How's your wrist by the way? Are you able to bend again? I'd love to see some more vids coming soon. They are a great motivation! :rock

Wrist i fractured the scaphiod bone and apparently its a sod to heel as its very small bone so theres nothing to knit to like if you break a bigger bone.Doc says anything from 12 to 24 weeks to heal or will have to be plated then physiotherapy for a month then i have to build the strength back for bending.

thanks for the kind words i will put a video up on youtube later to help motivate you it was one of my last before i did the wrist and wasnt to long of a bend like some of my others :D

Sorry to hear of the break of the Scaphoid. I remember someone who lived in the street who did that and it took quite a while to heal. He had a cast on and off for a long time.

Rest up and let that heal, then once it has healed it'll be absoluitely fine.

Man that's really something :(

So you're probably out of bending for 6 months or so? That's just too bad! Promise us you will wait long enough to let it fully heal before you start bending again. It would be a shame to lose a fantastic bender through such an injury ;)
