gerryg Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 I was wondering what FBBC stock compares to a 60d nail? Quote
ObsceneJester Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 I would say the best comparison would be a blue nail or 1/4 6" Round. Again the nails vary, the shiny nails that Ben sent me felt in the middle of say a 1/4 6" Round and a G5 (more towards the grade 5) I say that a 1/4 7" Hex feels like a harder 60D Quote Name: Rob H
Scott Styles Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 60d's vary. It is very possible you will be able to bend the 6" 1/4 round FBBC and still fail on a number of 60d's. You should be able to get some easier ones at that point. I'd say once you can hit Grade 5 bolts, you are in a position where most 60d's will go down. gerryg Posted May 31, 2007 Author Posted May 31, 2007 I tried to bend a 60d that ox3782 sent me and it hardly moved, but the FBBC 1/4"x6" round melts in my hands. Quote
ObsceneJester Posted May 31, 2007 Posted May 31, 2007 60D nails are usually tougher then blue nails (or 1/4 6" round CRS) start cutting them down to 5.5" and working on them from there.. I don't know the type of nail that Brendan sent you, but it is likely it is closer to a Grade 5 then a round.. Also I had a problem with the head of the nail when I bent, it didn't feel right in my hands. I don't know about you but that could be the case and it's just something that you have to work around on.. Quote Name: Rob H
Alawadhi Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 Some 1/4*7" hex are even harder than G5s. But in general yes they are about 60d or 5.75 fbbc round is like a 60d. Quote Read about me in my biography. ox3782 Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 Gerry Just make sure it is the griprite you are after and not the mazel You are not far off from the Griprite But that Mazel at least what I belive to be a mazel is rediculous I remember the initial kink on that nail to feel harder than A G8.Keep bending stuff Gerry and both of those nails dont stand a chance against you. Tim71 Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 I have gon tons of different 60d calibrations from Eric. 210, 240, 265, 280, 285, 295, 305, 315, 325, 330 have all been calibrations I've gotten from different brands of readily available 60d nails. A couple of hard to find freak nails even hit 380 and 480 lbs. Those are odd though. If you can get the 1/4 inch FBBC round at the 6 inch length then you should be able to get the 265 ish and maybe 280 ish nails. Like was said, sometimes the head gives people trouble. The mazels are indeed tough as are the keystones which are the ones that hit 330. When you can hit those you won't be far from a grade 5. The griprites hit 265 for me and are about the easiest ones that you can find. They're about an average nail I'd say. Good luck! Tim Quote
