Elizabeth Horne On The Paul O'grady Tv Show

Here's a quick report on how it went at the BBC TV studios today, as we're both knackered and off to bed.

Elizabeth chatted with Paul O'Grady and then rolled a frying pan. In the second part of the show she did a Guinness World Record of bending twelve 24" long x 1/2" (12.4mm) rounmd steel bars in 1 minute. She was presented with a certificate from the Guinness referees who were present.

The other guests were the actress Alison Steadman and the actor Will Mellor who talked about her and cheered her on.

The host Paul O'Grady was a really nice chap!

This programme is aired on Friday evening at 5pm on the mainstream tv Channel 4 here in the UK.

Ok I've had a super birthday - good night!

Should I dare ask about the meaning of the word, "knackered"? :rolleyes

LOL. Syber, pick up your #4. Do a few negs with it. Knackered would describe how your hands feel! Just means 'tired' more along the lines of 'exhausted' or 'very tired'! :mosher:upsidedwn:online

Missed that bit as someone came to the house but saw the bar bending. Five was the old record and David said Liz's PB in training was 6. On the day... 12!! Good work.

I am back in California now. Saw it last night in a London hotel. The frying pan roll was easy, and she looked very relaxed during the bending.

For Americans reading this, this guy and his show are hard to describe. It is equal parts Leno/Letterman, Merv Griffin/Mike Douglas (from the 1960s and 1970s), Pee Wee Herman, and Jerry Lewis(from the 1950s and 1960s). The critics apparently dislike him, but it is very popular with the viewing audience. He was very kind and respectful to a 100-year-old woman in the audience, which gave him points with me, and I thought he extended the same to Elizabeth as well.

I felt fortunate that I was able to catch it on tv before I left.

Mike
