oldtimer Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 Emily Brown, daughter of "Brickman" Gary Brown, broke the age 12 girl's dynamometer record using a Jaymar record. I have seen the video proof. She did 37 kg which is 9 kg more than average woman in her 20s can squeeze. For more info please visit www.strengthopedia.com Congratulations to Emily. Quote
ox3782 Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 Great Job,Thats more than a lot of boys her age can squeeze has she been training her grip at all? Brendan Quote Brendan Dwyer | 6'1" | 204lbs | 7 7/8 inch hand
CoC#3 Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 Great stuff! Has emily tried the grippers yet? Quote real name: Sam Solomi
RPGoodfellow Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 Big Congrats to Emily - that's great work! I also think a Congrats is in order for Gary for getting her involved at a young age! Best to both. GarytheDino Posted May 22, 2007 Posted May 22, 2007 (edited) http://www.gripboard.com/index.php?automod...si&img=5826 Click on the link to see her hand vs. mine. She was on a rolling thunder kick a few years ago then moved to bench and armwrestling. Out of curiosity I requested to check her hand strength to see what type of potential she might have and was not surprised. That record was the second time she touched a dyno. Be on the lookout for higher numbers. She wants to start training grip again. Edited May 22, 2007 by GarytheDino Quote You Tube Videos http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=dinosaur22840

And just because you've "seen the video proof" doesn't mean it's a record. And don't you mean a Jamar dyno instead of a Jaymar record? Quote "I have always been strong. GarytheDino Posted May 23, 2007 Posted May 23, 2007 (edited) Actually, Dale is very strict in what he requires as proof. Last week we submitted a 36 kilo but he denied the attempt due to excessive jerking. This week she did 37.5 kilos seating without moving. He rounded it down to 37. The needle was clearly 3/4 the way between 36 and 38 kilos not half. BTW the scroling across his web page is a misprint it should say 37 not 36. It's no point in arguing because next week she will do more. We will wait until 40 kilos to turn in the next attempt. Any true stregth athlete can repeat thier performance. I can swing the dyno like a baseball bat and the needle does not move, but Dale doesn't allow jerking so we play by the rules and did it again with a better result. Who else keeps dyno records except Dale? Syber, maybe you should submit your attempts or are you content making Strossen richer buying the new model year spring every year. I think your hair closed that gripper anyway so it should not count. Edited May 23, 2007 by GarytheDino Quote You Tube Videos http://www.youtube.com/profile_videos?user=dinosaur22840

GatorGrip Posted May 23, 2007 Posted May 23, 2007 A BIG CONGRATULATIONS to Emily for her efforts -- Keep It Up Young Lady!!! I support Dale's judgment 100% if it ain't right then it ain't worth doing but Emily didn't get discouraged in fact she used it to dig deeper and make her Dad proud with any even more impressive number. And no, I can't make the AOBS this year as they didn't send me an invite (or maybe I got it and didn't respond). Quote "I have always been strong. climber511 Posted May 26, 2007 Posted May 26, 2007 First BIG CONGRATS!! Second - I have submitted a couple things over the years to Dale. He required pretty extensive proof I felt. Date and place - Picture and or video or both - witness's name and contact info (which he checked) - etc. Competition or training, rules and conditions under which the lift or feat was done, etc etc etc. I really enjoy Dale's newsletter and books - as a age group athlete now days, it's fun to be able to compare myself to others my age instead of having to only look at a World Record set by some 25 year old. His books have records for all kinds of stuff, not just strength. The latest book "Strength and Speed" I have is from 2005 so I'm sure many records have been broken but an email to Dale will get you updated I'm sure. Fun little book to read - lots of odd things in there as well. Third - be fun to see where more people stand on dyno readings - it's something you just don't have a chance to try very often. Quote When people used to ask him how it was he became so incredibly strong, it was always the same, "strengthen your mind, the rest will follow". The Mighty Atom Age wrinkles the body. amaury Posted May 27, 2007 Posted May 27, 2007 9kgs + than a 20yo girl? That's pretty impressive! Congrats to your daughter Gary. Quote
