The World's Strongest Redneck wow, you mean he comes on here? that's cool what's MM ladder? excuse my ignorance.. I'm learning all this stuff. I've always been pretty strong, I am just getting intp grip training.. I bought a COC 1 and wish I had got the 2. I'm gonna buy that next. I dont have a blob or anything.. but I have solid weights I was going to try picking them up with pinch grip Quote
GetAGrip87 Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 (edited) He doesn't come on here that much anymore. Very few people actually have a "The Blob" but block weights are just fine. Get some dumbells and cut the block heads off. Block weights are great for overall hand strength and definately pick up a Coc #2. MM=Mash Monster; There are 6 Mash Monster Grippers and a level for each one. You qualify to attempt these grippers after you have proof of a #3 close. You have to do the Grippers order from 1 to 6. I have not even lifted in a while, just crazy pushups, handstand pushups, fingertip pushups.. etc.. Quote
GetAGrip87 Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 I was thinking of just trying my 50lb dumbell without cutting it, like from the top.. do that make sense? Yes, that is called lifting it by the face. After you cut it you can still do that, but you should really think about getting some heavier ones and making block weights out of them. They definately help develope overall hand strength and it carries over to other grip exercises as well. Quote Scott Harris Jr. 5'6" 150lbs. My Training Has Completely Switched Gears! 2012 Goals: ... If you want a ridiculous grip don't rely on CoC grippers to do that for you. Like John Brookfield has said, Block Weights= Hand strength. Try not to forget hand balance as it can lead to many problems Quote Name: Rob H
Alawadhi Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 If you want stronger grip don't just focus on grippers. Do grippers (also invert closes), thick bar, v bar, block weights, thin-meduim pinch, underhand and reverse bending (some people say reverse bending is linked to v bar lift), extensors (sp?) plus train your whole body. Having stronger body means stronger grip. Quote Read about me in my biography. vikingsrule92 Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 (edited) Yeah half of a 100lb DB is a cert on this site so yes it is considered very hard to pinch, much more to lift by the face. I think somewhere around half of a 70lb DB is considered a pretty good starting point but you might want to refer to the experts on this instead of me. Edited May 19, 2007 by vikingsrule92 Quote
