ObsceneJester Posted May 15, 2007 Posted May 15, 2007 Just wanted to know a bit of info from everyone, - When did you started bending? - Why did you started bending? - Your best bend to date? anything else you feel relevant i guess 1) March 1, 2007. 2) I saw the video of Gazza bending that 3/8 7" Stainless, made me want to do a bend like that one day. I remember looking at that video 3 times a day to see form, speed, determination and commitment to just get that thing done and it made me want to bend big steel (Aww crap now I have to go bend I've gotten all pumped up) 3) 6" 1/4 Square Since I hurt my shoulder back in October, I use to take my anger out on the weights. Now I found something that will bend and mold into what I want it to be when I'm pissed, just a great way to get my aggression out. Quote Name: Rob H
Brad Manion Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 1. April 2006 2. I'd been doing a lot of grip work to deal with elbow pain from competitive powerlifting, and the only old-time feat in my arsenal was being able to tear decks of cards in half. I've always thought nail bending was cool, so I got online, read a few articles, and the rest is history. 3. gazza Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 Started bending in 2002 after visiting and competing in the British Nail Bending Championships. Ive always admired the strongmen from the pre-steroid era i was parooseing the net and came across an article for the above competition. Best bend to date depends on your view i guesse for me its the Fantastic Shiny Bastard in those small wraps as the shortness plus the pain factor involved it was my toughest bend painwise to date and with it being the 2nd time i bent one [the other in thicker pads] it meant that to me being able to conquer a PR bend a 2nd time meant the 1st one wasnt a fluke. I just had to give it a go to see how hard it was. First attempts were poor, and i struggled to even bend some UK 6 inch nails braced! i couldn't even get a decent kink in one fast forward a bit (and a bucket load of bent steel later) and i'm still addicted! i still remember getting my first 6 inch nail, it was a great feeling! dunkster Posted May 16, 2007 Posted May 16, 2007 Started bending January 07. First saw Steve (Mobster) doing some bending last year at a grip show in Gloucester and how impressed all the kids were and thought it'd be good to be able to impress my kids like that. But didn't start till this year after joining the gripboard and seeing that it was a really progressive sport and got my self some 60d's, cut up my leather jacket and got started! My best bends to date are a 6" red, 6" bastard and a 5" 8mm crs. But I have about 35 feet of 10mm stainless in my garage and I'm damn determined that it will succumb to me, and I won't stop until it does! Quote Goals Cert on #3 Lift Inch Whey Consortium
antarath Posted May 17, 2007 Posted May 17, 2007 Started bending in march/april 2006. I started bending green nails and 1/4" drillrods. Finally got the yellow and the blue after a few months of training (reverse). I started out bending reverse style, then figured out the DO technique many months later. Bent the 300k Challenge Bar. Stopped shortbar bending for a while, and did 5/8" and 3/4" longbar bends. 3 feet length on all. Got back to reverse bending. Did 7" x 1/4" FBBC squares to about 90 degrees and heaps of grade 5's Finally figured out the DO technique, and did 6 new reds in a row. Plus several bastards and even more reds. Every time I videotape my bends, I end up deleting em because it took me "more than 2 mins". Guess I'm a perfectionist. 'Bout time I do something about it Mats Quote Real name: Mats Erik Engelsvoll

wscorpion Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 (edited) bent my first nail on the 17th of February 2007 because i saw a video of Theo Burggraaff reversing a G5. The first nails i've bent were with an uncommon reversing technique since i felt that was the most natural way of bending. After i put up a video Theo suggested me to read up on technique since my technique wasn't that great. From that point on i started bending DO which at first felt very difficult to get a kink in the steel. Now, about 100 bars (approx. 4kg) later i've bent my first Red in DO and I constantly feel i want to bend every piece of steel i come across Edited May 24, 2007 by White Scorpion Quote Mark Vogels -------------------- "Whether you think you can or you can't, you're right."
