Finally Got The Im Yellow Nail

i can't believe the yellow nail went down today. whats funny is that i was kind of complaining a couple of days ago that i could'nt bend the nail past 45 degrees. i was sitting in the living room today thinking about the darn thing and thought my wrists feel pretty good so i think i'll give it a try. after my warm-ups i grabbed the nail and said to myself- today is the day- today is the day. so i layed into it with everything i had( i don't think i ever exploded on a nail like i did that one), and to my udder disbelief it bent to under 90 degrees and then finished it off. the ends of the nail were just under 1 5/8 in. apart. i was stunned. after being stuck at 45 degrees for a good while, i finally killed it. i would say it took well under 15 sec. to completely bend it. what an awesome feeling. now i am going to take the advice of some fellow nail benders and do some ISO training. i think that will help me alot. my goal is to become a cert. red nail bender, then it will be time to start working on some '' bastard'' cert. thanks for all the advice and support guys it really helps alot.

Great job man.. good to see you explode into that and 15 seconds that is amazing.. Was it DU? DO or Reverse bending?

Anyways great job and good luck, that blue is not that far off especially if you are taking it under 15 seconds..

I knew you'd smash that yellow soon! good job! Time to hit the ISO work hard and then you'll do the blue IM nail easy.

As i've been told before though, don't neglect the long stuff (7"), make sure you keep a 7.5" bar with you all the time that is slightly pre kinked so you can work on flexiblity and ISO kink training.

keep up the good work :rock

Now start doing a ton of isos in various positions and you wont look back.

Nice job !! Onward to the Blue you go. If you don't have any Blues just cut an inch off another Yellow. I look forward to reading about more of your progress.

Great job on reaching a bending milestone that has many more to follow. Now you know that the steel has to bend to your will, many have most of the strength needed already but it is the mind muscle that needs to be worked out.

Great Job! I've found that the more initial bend I can get especially as the stock get's harder, the more chance I have of getting it. Spend a little more effort on the first hit and it saves on subsequent hits. Anytime I stop at 20 degrees or so and admire my handiwork the job gets much harder.

I actually got to try a yellow nail the other day thanks to another board member and I tell you it was pretty tough 1/4 inch stock I though. I was going kinda slow cause I wanted it to bend smack in the middle and it did suprise me.

Great job and keep at it. If you want to keep at the 7 inch length another piece to work on is 1/4 inch hex, 1/4 inch drill rod and 1/4 inch stainless. Those will all test you a little more and get you a little higher.

Great job on a good piece of steel.

You live in Long Grove and cannot be more than 7 or 8 miles from my home on Rt 59 in Barrington. Send me a PM if you want to come over and try some bending this weekend and most likely put me to shame.

I need the insperation ... neilkaz ...

Nice first yellow tbarker!!

thanx. its amazing how much of a mental aspect there is when it comes to bending. after bending the yellow, my confidence went from below dirt to cloud nine.
