i am currently trying to bend the im yellow nail which is 1/4x7. i can put a 40 -45 degree kink in it, but not without a fight. my question is do i keep working on the yellow nail every bending workout or do i keep bending more and more 60D galv. spiral nails per workout or what? i'm kind of frustrated cause i have been stuck at level for awhile now and not gaining any ground. any advice would be much appreciated.

hmm.. i usually try to finish it in the next session instead of bending other stuff. wait 1-2 days or try after some hours.

Keep at it until it's finished, or leave it until your next workout.

Isometric training - always work on tough stuff, you'll be amazed at the results! Get a bar you can't bend, and pre kink it a bit and then use it for ISO kink training. Also pre bend a bar to about 90 degrees or more (one you can't bend on your own) and hit it hard every night for crushdown ISO. This alone will have you smashing that yellow nail in a week or two.

ditto on above advice,

i took a piece of prekinked 8mm CRS to use for isos, (8mm CRS was my target bar at the time) after only 2 iso sessions with it i was able to crush it down

im not saying its magic, i must have been marginal on the 8mm crs before i did isos. but it worked for me

and perhaps more importantly it works for people like gazza

All good advice. Only thing I'd add though is don't let yourself get frustrated. If you have to go get some cold-rolled or zinc plated from lowes or home depot in the same dimensions and try that. Isos are great workout but don't limit yourself if you getting yourself too down about it.

Since you can get it to 45 degrees and get stuck there I'd say the ISOs will help you more than anything since it's probably not a technique issue. I'd do all three personally. Get some easier 1/4 inch steel and cut into 7 inch pieces, do the isos on that yellow until it falls and bend the timber ties.

Can't go wrong there.

start some volume training with a slightly easier bar and work on explosiveness through-out the bend, I personally cant go after a pr every bending session as it overtrains me and I start getting weaker.... EVERYONE IS DIFFERENT THOUGH - try several different peoples advice and find what works for you...........Good Luck.......Brett Kerby

When I get stuck/start going backwards, I am usually overtrained. Most of the time all I need to do is double my rest time and have plenty of carbs and be very hydrated before my bending session. Usually rewarded with a nice PR of some kind. I also agree with the other guys. Take your pick, you will win :rock

get yourself some5/16" round HRS and CRS keep a couple straight in what length you are trying to conquer and then prekink aload of the same length bars to varying degrees make yourself some small crushdown pads as well then start doing isos with the above bars on the HRS stuff 1st throughout the day for 10 second hits as often as you can carry a few around with you and when you get a chance just pull one out and for the first few seconds just get into position and ease into the bar the for 7-10 seconds really blast into it feel like you are trying to force the bar through your hands then one a certain piece starts moving keep hitting it over time till its crushed then move onto another piece then move onto the prekinked CRS etc.

I find that i dont do half as much volume as i used to do now that i do a daily isometric routine and a few hard bends its alot cheaper wich suits my circumstances at the moment but more importantly it is working better for me.

As you have found by just finishing a yellow off the MIND is a powerfull tool use it all the time really get yourself in the zone when you bend.
