Tim71 Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 I was bending a little last night and I'm in the process of healing up so I thought I'd bend a bastard since this new batch that I have only cal'd at 385 lbs. Well, I noticed out of the 10 I bought, one was kind of an ugly duckling of the bunch; a little darker and kinda spotted up so I thought I'd get that one out of the way. Boy was I in for a shock. Since I wasn't wanting to overdo it I dropped out of the bend at about 30 degrees or so and my arms were really sore from the night before so I just figured it was all do to being spent. Plus I was testing some new wraps. A few minutes later, I thought something didn't feel quite right so I tried one of the shiny ones and it was a different annimal entirely. I wonder is the one darker bastard one of the older hard ones or is it one of the new darker ones John talked about. I got this shipment about march 20th or so. If it is one of the newer darker ones then it's going to get tougher to cert on I can say that. If it's one of the old old 440 lbs one then that would explain it too. Anybody get any around this time? Tim Quote

Anybody get any around this time? Tim I have some of the darker "ugly duckling" Bastards Tim that I got recently. Tried one the other day after one of my bending clients told me they were quite a bit harder than the other Bastards I had sent him that were shinier. He was right. They are stout creatures and that's great stuff. Use them to get you a bit closer to the Stainless. Quote
Tim71 Posted April 19, 2007 Author Posted April 19, 2007 Ben, How did you rank it compared to the new harder reds or the old original bastards? I have some CRS, that cal'd at 445 lbs that I do plan on helping me get to the shiny which I want REALLY bad. That stainless is just such beautiful stuff. So I guess then the new bastards that John talked about in another thread will indeed be tougher once again. To be honest I did think the shiny ones were a tad easy for the reputation the bastards had but that new red nail was rough. Tim Quote
John Beatty Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 Tim- Those were the new ones & they're more like the old ones. All the soft stuff is GONE! Quote I like heavy things.
dimmers Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 I think i got some of that 'soft stuff' in my last fbbc order... and i thought i was doing really well oh well, just have to train harder! Quote
Tim71 Posted April 20, 2007 Author Posted April 20, 2007 Thanks John! I sure liked the shiny ones not necessarily because they were easier but because they looked so good. I can get the harder ones though but I'm not sure about the 6 inch like I once was. Thanks! Tim Quote

That CRS will definitely help and so will the stuff that you get from the other Steel Berzerker...The Stainless truly is beautiful stuff. I know what you mean there. I like the look of the shinier Bastard stock more than the tougher stock. But they're both good. Had a go at both versions near midnight last night because I was feeling very strong and very pissed, which as Gazza knows is a great combo for killing steel. Took down a shiny version slightly sub-Insane (4 and 3/8") in a bit under 5 minutes. And after a good rest, struggled to go sub-Mag (4 and 15/16") on the harder new ugly stuff in about the same time limit. If you want some truly hard stock that will make the crushdown on any of the FBBC Stainless (5/16" of course) feel easy, then buy a bit of the McMaster 5/16" Stainless Hex. I have been hearing reports back on that from some people I'm still helping...and they're saying that at 8" and cheat kinked to about 90 degrees it's harder to get to 2" than a Mag. Quote
