Just Got My 2.5 And 3 Today

Just reporting progress here! Almost brace closed the 2.5 out of the box(about 1/4", did this several times) and got the #3 to parallel. As I've heard on here and GMania the 2.5 is very close to my #2 but I'd say it's still far enough away to be a useful training tool. I'm pretty excited about being that close because I've been closing my filed 1.5 all day, doing full closes, inverts, trying 2 fingers, TNS's and No Sets and my hands are quite noticably tired, like can barely hold on to a 75lb dumbell tired. After maybe 2 or 3 days I'll give it another good braced go, I'm sure I'll close the 2.5 and I might get the #3 past parallel. The #3 doesn't seem like the big monster I've been hearing about though, granted I may have an easier 3 but the way the #2 and 2.5 feel today I'm entirely sure that the #3 will be mine within 3 months. MARK MY WORDS!

Nice Crushes I love my 2.5COC I think it is a perfect step the one I have anyway.Just for info sake I did 9 full sweep reps

on my 2.5 today and can close my new GR8 spring No3 for a single with authority. Also the New no3 I have is a beast

compared to my older non GR8 spring No3 so an old Non Gr8 spring No3 may be another nice step stone if you want.

How long is the sweep on your 2.5 and GR8 #3? Mine keep getting larger, I've heard other people notice this but I haven't heard of or read much on why or if it's very consistent.

Nice work dude i'm sure you'll close your #2.5 and then your #3 pretty soon. 2006+ #3s are generally harder so as ox suggested a 2004-2005 #3 would be another good stepping stone. Good luck with your training.

The sweep on my 2.5 is just about 2 13/16 and my Gr8 no3 is 2 7/8.

The spread on your grippers has been increasing since you've owned them...? :erm

:D LOL, No! Everytime I get a higher gripper the sweep gets longer.

Just got my calipers out and my:

#3= 1.5mm chamfer/ 74mm spread,

#2.5= 1.5mm chamfer/ 72.5mm spread,

#2= 1mm chamfer/ 75mm spread,

#1.5= 1.5mm chamfer/ 71mm spread and

#1= 1mm chamfer/ 71.5mm spread.

So my #2's the biggest spread!

The newer CoCs seem to have a deeper chamfer than the older too. :)

Probably because a wider spring = handles farther apart.

Well, I tried my 2.5 again today and didn't get it. Best effort landed me 1/4" away on right and parallel on left. I couldn't leave well enough alone, yesterday I decided "what the heck I'll try it today", didn't get it nor did I get the #2 even too an MMS close. Then I did a few heavy sets and repped the 1.5, got a few PR's with the 1.5 and T though. 5 full sweep reps Inverted and regular with the 1.5 in each hand (previously I could get 5 on a good day for 2 sets invert left and reg right) and I closed the Trainer for 3 full reps with my Ring and pinky fingers on both hands, got in a few (slightly set) Overcrushes in with my ring and pinky then with my middle and pointer I did a few sets. Not as neat as a 2.5 close but progress still. Closed the #1 with my middle and pointer also on both hands for 3 reps each. All grippers are filed alot except the #2 and 2.5.

MMS'd the 2.5 today, unfortunately it has been alittle more than 3 days since I should have closed it but a close is a close. The sweep is the same as my #2 but the close skyrockets the difficulty but I'd still say they are very close. Had a few other PR's in a very unusually intense 10 minute gripper session, closed a #1 with 2 fingers for fully set reps each hand and got it to parallel with my ring and pinky fingers, closed my 1.5 with 2 fingers on my right and got it to parallel with my left. Got the #3 to parallel and am 1/4 away from closing the #2 with my left hand inverted. And with this I officially let this post die.(wanted to keep it until I closed the 2.5)

my new #2.5 seems identical to my old #2, got them both down to 5/16" last night. I have had my #2 down to 1/8" before but im out of practice.

my #2.5 is close to my #3 . i have 3 different #2's here now . the old one with just a "2" under the handles are a bit harder than the newer ones

Congrats dude, nice work closing that #2.5! 1 step closer to the #3.

My #2.5 is definitely harder than my #2. Actually, it's even harder than a BBSM that I have, which is harder than a #2 but not that much, maybe because it has a 2.5" spread only? Dunno if it makes a difference because I only train MMS anyways. The point is, my #2.5 is quite harder than my #2.

Congrats on your 2.5! That's just a little stepping stone to crushing the hell out of your #3.
