dunkster Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 I thought I had lost this footage just after I filmed it but I found it today hidden away in another file of Mobster at a grip show in Gloucester, March 2006. It was a great show with the kids loving it and the first time I had ever seen a nail bent or a vbar lift or anything else grip related for that matter. It was a very impressive and motivating night and this just rounded it off nicely. Quote Goals Cert on #3 Lift Inch Whey Consortium

mobsterone Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 Oh man that's sweet - you had better send me that as a file. I shake my head etc because I was so sure I wasn't gonna get it and if the crowd hadn't been behind me it would not have happened. On the video it looks so damn easy but I can assure you it was not. I wish the workout I had with it a few weeks ago had been taped - that was off the hook. Quote Steve Gardener, British 2006/2008/2009/2010 champ, 117.5kg 2HP, Euro 2008 & 2010 champ

No what you've done is confused a training lift (I've done as much as 300.1 lbs on a 2.5-inch handle) where I've said you need to pull as much as 50lbs more on a handle as opposed to a solid dumbbell. It may also be confused with some of the European Inch replicas of which that site has a bell, yet to be made, weighing 140-kilos Here http://www.heavygriptools.ch.vu/ and includes a 125-kilo bell - so close to the weight mentioned above). My understanding is neither have been pulled. I can do their 97 (the Millennium is 103) but would need to pull 320lbs to pull their 125 kg bell and 358lbs to pull their 140kg bell (the 97, 125 and 140 are made to special order). The actual weight of the Millennium is 228lbs and the spec (set by Alan Radley) was 225 + / - 5lbs (ie: similar to the Apollon dumbbell and as you say) with the same 2 and 3/8ths thickness of the Inch (and close to the RT handle thickness) but longer between the globes. mobsterone Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 The guys from London Kettlebells did a podcast with me last week (promo for the British) and one question was regarding memorable training sessions. I 'thunk' a little and came up with one I wished we had videoed and put on Youtube for ya all to see. In my log I recall having a blinder of a session with the grippers getting proper solid closes on the BBGM for 6 or 7 singles left handed and as good a rep of 7 with the BBSE. Maost sessions are touch and go with me often getting very close etc. In the same session and feeling my oats I picked up and lapped our 170-kilo / 374lbs stone. Some of the lads who train specifically for strongman with us have yet to even this. As I was on fire and wanting to get as much from whatever the hell I had got TT, one of the guys we train with, suggested some Millennium dumbbell work. One of the others asked me after 'how long do you normally take to get it' and I said 'normally 8-12 weeks of thick handled dumbbell work is enough'. Not that night. TT had some of the color coded reband rubber bands used by powerlifters etc. Anyway we started by doubling a 25lbs band to make it 50 and both he and I were doing right and left hand pulls. This equates to about Inch dumbbell weight and I was getting 3 of 4 singles a hand. At the top we were getting less and less assist from the bands (the greatest assistance being at the bottom). I then got the feeling I could pull it without the band and so we unhooked and removed he band and set it to one side. I then easily pulled the Millennium. Now I had been laughing out loud at just how damn well the whole session was going and had a stupid grin on my face and so decided to go again. This in and off itself is a feat. I have, as per the video, pulled it tilted more than once in a session and on the video did a tilt pull and then a from the floor pull. But two from the floors? Never. I then did a third and a fourth. The fourth was off the clock and I held it while yelling - full of piss and vinegar - for what felt like 10 seconds. Then someone suggested they video it using their mobile. I rested briefly and did a slight miss, adjusted myself and got my final pull of the night which we've watched (the guy kept it on his phone) a few times - I hold it for 4 seconds on what was the fifth lift of the night. It was quite a session and I wish we had that to show you. Quote Steve Gardener, British 2006/2008/2009/2010 champ, 117.5kg 2HP, Euro 2008 & 2010 champ
