60d's Go Down

Recommended Posts

after warming up with some kettlebell drills, i bent 2 off 7"x 3/16" crs and had a go at an IM yellow. couldn't move it, the kink on 7" stuff feels all wrong. i am plenty flexible, just need to work on form and confidence at 7".

feeling pretty angry, i decided to stay with longer stuff and had a go at a bright 60d in IM pads. it went down easy, so i did another one :)

i was expecting these 60d's to be harder than a yellow, maybe even a blue, i guess not.

Hey there!

If you've bought those 60d bright nails here in the UK then i've found that they are easier than 1/4" stock from the US, all due to inch vs metric measures. The nails you get here in the uk are all measured in millimeters, therefore the bright 6 inch nails here in the uk are actually:

6mm width by 150mm length

which equates to

0.2362" width by 5.9" length (compared to the IM yellow and blue being 1/4" (0.25") in width.

not much difference to the eye, but you'll notice it when bending.

good bending though judo, keep it up

they may well be 6mm x 150mm (as sold at B&Q), someone gave me a load of 4,5,6" nails, dull and bright. i haven't got a micrometer or vernier so i can't tell the exact diameter. either way the US 1/4" is much harder to bend.
