Brad Manion Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 (edited) I had one of those proud moments a few nights ago. My older bro called me to tell me to meet him at a local bar where he was in a dart tournament. I was told to bring some nails and spikes to bend, for the sons of some of my friends. So, I bring a few 60d nails and a few 12" x 3/8" timber spikes. With the 60d nails, I bent one DO and the other DU. I then did an easy braced bend of a timber spike over my thigh. One of these young guys, I hadn't seen him in about a year, asked if I had extra nails he could try to bend. He's a regular working man now, but in the last few years, he was recruited to be a linebacker at a few D1 schools. But, he still weight-trains regularly, so I decided to let him take a shot. I wrapped a 60d for him and was about to let him begin when I noticed he had his hands too close together and too low on his chest. Change up those two small technical points, and this kid absolutely smoked the 60d on his first try. Me, the kid, and his father, were all very proud But, the show wasn't over, for he then easily destroyed the long timber spike as well in the braced bend. I felt like Mr. Miyagi must have felt after Daniel-san won the tournament at the end of Karate Kid. So, I don't if this young man is quite ready to join the club, but he's definitely got all the tools needed. Just wanted to share a cool story with everyone before the holidays. Merry Christmas to all. Edited December 24, 2006 by Brad Manion Quote
Crotchulla Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 That's cool. I felt the same way at work. I managed to teach two guys how to rip phonebooks. Now they do it at parties and stuff for their friends. Teaching is a joy. Quote Goals by April 2008 Close #3 (still) Deadlift 470 lbs (still) Middle finger lift 200lbs Military Press BW
