QuietSet Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 (edited) Hey, I have an HG150 and HG200. I filed one handle of each one about 1/4". Is there any way of knowing how close to a #2 the filed HG200 should be? I dont have a #2 and probably wont have one for a little while, but I was hoping someone with more experience could offer a rule-of-thumb estimate or something. Anyone know how close a filed 200 is to a #2 on average? For a reference of how much harder they are to close now, the filed 150 feels about like the 200 before i filed it, and I am about 1/4" or so away from closing the filed HG200. Thanks for any help/guesses. Edited December 14, 2006 by QuietSet Quote http://www.youtube.com/user/quietset
Teemu I Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 I'd guesstimate your filed HG 200 to be closer to CoC #1 than #2. Quote Teemu Ilvesniemi, Finland My Blog
GetAGrip87 Posted December 15, 2006 Posted December 15, 2006 A filed HG200 is still pretty far off from a #2 Quote Scott Harris Jr. 5'6" 150lbs. My Training Has Completely Switched Gears! 2012 Goals: ... Get Back to 154's 143's for Nationals???
Revtor Posted December 15, 2006 Posted December 15, 2006 The gripper will require the same force as it always did for the whole sweep. No harder. Except for the fact that it now has to be crushed 1/4" more to completely crush it, which your muscles probably aren't trained for so THAT part (last 1/4") will feel harder. I like using my filed grippers for working out that last few mm's of a crush which is aways the hardest part for me. ~Steve Quote Belay on!!

Crotchulla Posted December 15, 2006 Posted December 15, 2006 I always thought that the gripper gets harder as you close it more and more. So logically, doing a BTR close should make it harder. It has greatly improved my left hand crush strength. But then again, I'm not a gripper, so I don't know how it really feels. CoC#3 Posted December 15, 2006 Posted December 15, 2006 A filed HG200 will be harder than a #1 but not close to a #2. Quote real name: Sam Solomi
QuietSet Posted December 15, 2006 Author Posted December 15, 2006 Thanks for the info! Hopefully I'll get a #2 in the near future so I'll know what exactly I'm working towards. Quote http://www.youtube.com/user/quietset
acorn Posted December 15, 2006 Posted December 15, 2006 When I filed my BBSA it went from about a #1 level to about a #1.5. As you compress the spring further it will gain more tension. - Aaron Quote ** Retired **
