divided Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 Instead of deadlifting when plate pinching, anyone try these http://www.exrx.net/WeightExercises/Obliques/DBSideBend.html but, while pinching 2 25lbers? It felt great. Better than a dead or static hold in terms of pressure for me right now. Quote
Mlstrass Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 Never tried them pinching, but I use a 1 1/2" handle on a farmer's walk bar I made. Use 125#'s so my obliques and grip get a good workout. Might have to try them pinch style, but it's not a movement you want to "hurry" if your grip is giving out. Easy to strain your lower back. Quote
Timmy Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 It would be easiest to 2 Plate Pinch. Quote CCS 2005 #3: Done! 20 Reps on #3: PR! Get #3 Cert: Pending..... BBE Cert: Done!
WildGorillaMan Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 If you can 2-plate pinch enough weight to challenge your obliques then either a) your core needs some work or b ) you are a pinching god, and I sometimes do sidebends with a tricep blaster bar, in much the same manner as a farmer's bar. More often though, I do the Diesel Sidebends which Rick Walker still refuses to take credit for popularizinig. Quote WildGorillaMan's training log. Watch the Drama!
divided Posted December 1, 2006 Author Posted December 1, 2006 lol. no I was focusing on the strain moving to the side would produce on your grip, not actaully using it to work obliques, just a way to add a little more resistance or variety to a plate pinch. Quote
