Alawadhi Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 I want to know about this bend http://www.cyberpump.com/gallery/album166 . It is titled Solid Brass. Is this like the FBBC 3/8 or harder? Where does this bend stands? It seems MAGNIFECENT. Dave Osltund seems to be a great bender by looking into his OLD gallery. And it is al DU. I wonder what can he do now? Scott Styles Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 It's a very good bend. Brass is generally easier than steel though. I doubt it is comprable to 3/8 FBBC. Quote You don't get a dog and do the barking yourself.
bencrush Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 Dave IS a freak, and that is assuredly a fantastic bend, especially DU. However I don't think it's comparable to 3/8" CRS. I would buy some but it's probably $15. Quote

dubthewonderscot Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 Good heavens no, Brass is a very soft metal compared to steel. Someone that can bend 5/16 steel should have a fairly easy time with a similar length 3/8ths brass. The kink is tougher due to the thicker bar, but the crushdown is very simple on brass. Thus why there aren't brass swords, bullets, tanks, etc anymore. FYI a 6 foot rod of 3/8ths brass is 24 bucks at mcmaster.com W Quote Weldon Stogsdill
handgripperman Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 Clay edgin told me that the 7 inch 3/8 brass that he bent was harder than the 7 inch 5/16 grade 5. He couldn't crush the brass down all the way, its at like. 2 1/8. I guess it varies. Quote
climber511 Posted December 11, 2006 Posted December 11, 2006 I bought some 5/16" and 3/8" Brass today - thought I'd give it a try some day. I got a couple 2' or so drops for $4.00 - figured I might as well grab them. I'll let you know what happens. gazza Posted December 12, 2006 Posted December 12, 2006 Thick brass cut short starts off very easy then creates a big U bend and ramps up on the crush big time its fun stuff. Quote "There he goes. climber511 Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 Bent the brass today - the 5/16" was very easy at 7" and not much at 6" - kind of soft. Now the 3/8" - whoa! I cut a piece 7" and expected it to act like the 5/16" did - NOT! This stuff is tough, bent like a Grade 8 bolt, only harder, bent very sharp, and was "springy". I'd say harder than a RED or Bastard bar but not as hard as a 6.5" one - it fought clear to the very end. Think I'll go buy some more of this if they have any left. Kind of fun stuff - looks really cool as fat as it is.
