David Horne Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 Well after all the efforts to get many ideas going global and failing, I along with Nick and Steve have set up the British Hand Strength Association. Today I started working on my website, which will house the British info. We have a lot of great ideas, so hopefully 2007 will be a fun, and inventive year. Will keep you posted with the progress. Scott Styles Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 This sounds like an excellent idea and the proper step towards a global organization. Bob's done it with the US Handstrength website: http://www.powerandbulk.com/ushandstrength/ The Australians have done with the Aussie Strength site: http://www.aussiestrength.com/grip.html Maybe there's a German one too? I don't know. Quote You don't get a dog and do the barking yourself.
honk Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 Thorsten has done a very fine job with his site Powerschmiede.de Quote Christoph Koch
Scott Styles Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 Ah right, I've actually linked to that site. Must of forgotten it because I can't read most of it. Sounds like several countries are going to have contest sites then. Wonder if there are others. I know there's this Swedish grip site, not sure if it's about the contests or not though: http://www.jimgahnfelt.se/index.htm Quote You don't get a dog and do the barking yourself.
mobsterone Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 I hope we can do some good. With Nick here in Gloucester but making regular visits to Stafford plus the competitive level we've all had and some media savvy I'm fairly confident we can do well. David Horne Posted November 29, 2006 Author Posted November 29, 2006 There are many great ideas we have on the table to bring grip strength and contests to other sports and to the public. Sam, I hope you will be part of it, it will be fun and exciting. David Quote

David Horne Posted December 4, 2006 Author Posted December 4, 2006 There will eventually be all the info on the BHSA section of my site. But as a taster of what we will be doing next year, we will be having Supermatches between certain evenly matched grip athletes. We will try to get these at a variety of venues throughout the year, such as armwrestling, strongman comps and maybe even at football. To start with we will have 'There can only be one' Pinch Showdown. David Horne v Nick McKinless This will be at 5 venues through the year. Other events to follow, and maybe we could even attract one of the top europeans over? David Quote

David Horne Posted December 4, 2006 Author Posted December 4, 2006 Actually I'd have it, 1 contest, 5 events, 2 chosen by Theo, and 2 chosen by Steve, and one chosen from a hat. Sound good? Quote

David Horne Posted December 5, 2006 Author Posted December 5, 2006 Theo, You will choose 2 lifts, that are universal grip events, and Steve will choose 2 as well, with the 5th being pulled from a hat. It sounds fun. David Quote
