gerryg Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 I went to Home Depot today and bought some 6"x1/4" bolts, the head of the bolts have BBB stamped on them. They feel as tough as the 1/4"x7" round crs sold by FBBC, what kind of bolts did I buy? Quote
acorn Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 Those would be considered Grade 2 bolts. - Aaron Quote ** Retired **
Scott Styles Posted November 16, 2006 Posted November 16, 2006 Yep, Grade 2. Those are the same ones I got from Home Depot. I believe a grade 5 bolt will have 3 slashes on the head. A grade 8 bolt will have 6 slashes. Here's a handy chart: http://www.boltdepot.com/fastener-informat...rade-Chart.aspx Quote You don't get a dog and do the barking yourself.

There are these types of bolts at Home Depot and Lowe's, but they are not in the range for bending. If they are the proper thickness, they are way too short. Best advice I got on obtaining properly sized Grade 5 and Grade 8 bolts was to see if there is a Fastenal store nearby. Their website allows you to enter your ZIP code and find the nearest store. If your bolts aren't on hand, they can have them shipped out quickly. I made a request on a Friday, and it was in my hands the following Monday afternoon. Quote
