Crotchulla Posted November 6, 2006 Posted November 6, 2006 Just wondering how well the DU benders do on rear levers. I've heard that that is the best thing for DU bending besides more bending. I've really started to get decent at it. I can rear lever about a foot off the end with a 10lbs sledge. So if any of you can bend a red nail, let me know how far you can get a rear lever going. Well, or if you have any other tips. I've just started and noticed my DO went up, too. Quote Goals by April 2008 Close #3 (still) Deadlift 470 lbs (still) Middle finger lift 200lbs Military Press BW
Soilworker Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 Regular, "down to the nose" levering is better for bending. And to answer your question I have done an 8lb sledge and that's about it. Quote AKA Jeremy
acorn Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 My best DU is a 60d and I've levered to the nose with a 12lb sledge holding at the end. I almost never do DU bends. - Aaron Quote ** Retired **
DuTCH Posted November 7, 2006 Posted November 7, 2006 For DU levering to the rear is best. I am not a good bender, but i did lever my butt off for the LGC last time, with some bending, and actually had good results! Quote I got a sixth sense that tells me you ain't worth six cents Rise and Fall
patrick Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 For me levering to the nose has had better carry over to double underhand bending. My best lever to the nose is 22lb. I think that if you look at the people that have bent a red double underhand you will see that most of them have levered around a 20lb sledge to the nose. Quote
Chrisx9118 Posted November 8, 2006 Posted November 8, 2006 Yesterday i bent a blue nail in around 18 seconds Double underhand..... And rear levered my 8lb sledge for 5 reps from the bottom of the handle... And levered to the nose with my arm on a surface my 16lb sledge, 20" down the handle.... ...I think both rear levering and levering to the nose are the 2 best DU exercises... Quote
Crotchulla Posted November 8, 2006 Author Posted November 8, 2006 Thanks guys. I just always heard rear levering was best. I do levers different ways, I just figured I'd ask about the rear for DU. I'm planning on DUing tonight with my previous best being a yellow nail. Hopefully I'll report back with some good info on if the extra rear lever work didn't anything for me. Ya know, I have noticed though, that when I start with heavy rear levers, my lever to nose power drops pretty bad. So there probably is a pretty good correlation to DU and any levering at all.
