Timmy Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 A couple of days ago, I was about to get a SE attempt on camera. So I grabbed the BBE, and easily mashed a double - could of done a triple I was so strong that day. Then I followed by grabbing the SE................. ...and I could hardly set it! Could not even get it paralell......... My BBE is normal by Dave's standards. I would like to know if anyone else falls into the same trap? Quote CCS 2005 #3: Done! 20 Reps on #3: PR! bencrush Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 I am definitely in the same boat Timmy with the Elite and the Super Elite. I have closed my share of Elites and never yet closed a Super Elite. I was repping a few of the Elites and had a difficult time setting the Mash Monster 3 gripper when I attempted it. So they are definitely a ways above an Elite by design. Quote
jad Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 My SE was a touch easier than my #4 and Wes said it was harder than two of his #4s. No comparison between the two IMO. Now E+.....you're getting in the ballpark. Quote Proud member of the Feat Cheaters Club! Captain of Crush 2003-2011 Josh Dale Wentzville, MO
Bearcat 74 Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 No comparision between a BBE and BBSE. A BBSE is not a lot different from a #4. StalwartSentinel Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 No comparision between a BBE and BBSE. A BBSE is not a lot different from a #4. My BBSE is a hair easier than my #4. Like a #3.8/3.9 range. My BBE is brand new and not seasoned in any way and is still pretty tough, but it will probably finish around a #3.3/3.4. Quote
JoeGrip Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 My SE is way easier than my #4, I can hold the SE a good 1/4" to 3/8" on a assisted neg on the #4 barely at parallel, and its way way easier to chest crush than my #4. Maybe Ill really know "if" I ever close them... Quote
Teemu I Posted October 7, 2006 Posted October 7, 2006 Difference between two of them seems significant to me. SE is really difficult to set. Quote Teemu Ilvesniemi, Finland My Blog
Bob Lipinski Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 You know, I did 50 reps with the elite I mashed with my foot 1000 times then heated in the oven, but couldn't even set my 2006 #3........ Quote US Handstrength
Bob Lipinski Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 To be serious, I recently bought an SE that was so close to a #4 that I had no use for it. Probably harder at the close- The spring was set considerably below the level of the handles. I bought an easier SE a little while back that was close in strength to my very, very hard elite. My hard elite is definitely a few steps above the MM2. Ben Edwards has that Super Elite now. Tommy Helsep has my old style SE, back when Warren made them around the strength of a #4 on purpose. That one was a little harder than my original #4. Quote US Handstrength
CoC#3 Posted October 8, 2006 Posted October 8, 2006 I think i have an easy #4 because my unseasoned elite seems almost as hard on the close (last 1/4''). When doing negs, both the elite and the #4 open to 1/4'' straight away. That being said the sweep on my elite is no where enar as difficult as that of my #4. I haven't got a BBSE yet. I wouldn't be surprised that it would be harder than my #4. Quote real name: Sam Solomi

Over time, I will discover where my BBE will end up but for now, it's pretty tough too. Quote
