The videos are a nice touch. Nice choice of events - rules look easy but events hard - just as it should be.

Ok fellas we are moving forward on the small contest. As Anson posted it will be at my dungeon. Start time will be at 10:00 am. entry fee of $20 will cover a very nice cookout, beer and misc other goodies.

We are trying something different with the rules. We have made some super lame videos showing the events. We tried to cover everything but after watching them I know we left out a few details. These events are all basically new for us so please ask questions. We tried to mix up the normal lineup for a different feel. We want to see what ya think, so check out the vids at

You can send the check to me, or pay when you arrive, even paypal works- scottsherryg@excite.com.

oh yea, the pool will be heated so bring your suits. If you don't want to swim I have some new strong man stuff to try (800lbs tire, 220 keg, trap bar, and what ever else I brew up before then. :rock)

Not exactly questions but clarifications maybe.

Regular or thumbless grip allowed for the Hang?

A flat foam mat or a small pad like Slim uses for the lever?

Mouse - same widths as the Euro pinch allowed? 44-54-64?

Grippers - one or both hands?

The either hand rule in effect for the Blobs like before?

320# for 10 points on the V-bar - I'm in trouble :trout

Great questions, Chris

1. regular grip for the hang, will be the last event and will proceed from last place standing to first.

2. a small pad( its about 2" thick) found it to work great

3. mouse width are open to preferance (.5" to 5"), but euro width seem to be on the money for max lifts.

4. grippers max attempt both hand averaged.

5. either hand is good for the blobs.

last but not least 2" vbar, who ever pulls the most wins a madssco 2" v-bar

a 320 pull would be cool :cool, I am not even close.

320 on a 2" v-bar would be huge! My guess upper 200s will be the best.

The location of the contest has changed. We're going to have it at the Woodleaf Community Center (this is where the Tar Heel Hands of Steel was held).

Woodleaf Fire Dept.

9025 Cool Springs Rd.

Woodleaf, NC 27054

The community center is directly behind the fire dept, you can't miss it. Scott's probably not going to be able to make it because of work, so you guys can send your checks or money orders to me. Please PM or email me for my mailing address.

Motel info:

Best Western

825 Klumac Rd

Salisbury NC 28144

The rooms are nice, the place was just built in 1999. They offer non smoking rooms as well. It's 15 min from the contest.

I stayed there last time and booked there again this time as well. Decent hotel.

Hopefully my shoulder injury will be healed and I can compete, but either way I will be there.

Results:

Turnout was low, but we still had a good time.

No Set Grippers

Kent Caldwell- Sport R, Sport L

Anson Castelvecchi- #2 R, #2 L

Jonathan Creason- #2 R, #2 L

Dave Baker- #1 R, #1 L

Brian Hunt- Sport R, Sport L

Dave Morton- #2 R, #2 L

Dave Morton just missed the hard #3, then shut it after his time ran out. If Dave had been warmed up no setting the #3 would not have been a problem.

I had a great time, even if I did have to kill a couple of hours waiting on Dave. Several PR's were hit by everybody, which makes for a good day no matter what. Also finally got to play around with some highland games implements, which was a lot of fun.

Congrats to Anson for a great showing. He was consitently good the whole contest.
