Sure. And it will be done by someone most of us never heard of. Either a pro Strongman or the equivalent of that Tex guy that casually repped the #3 at the GGC.

Or, someone can get lucky and the "out of the package on the spot" Number 4 that is used could be a light one, in which case a half dozen guys on this board could do it, credit card set or not.

I know, pretty extreme statements out of my rear for an old accountant who cannot close the #3 himself.

Half a dozen guys in here could CCS an "easy" #4? ... I'm sure they could close it, maybe do some parallel reps (!!), but CCS it?

Timmy, I made a similar post not too long ago. Tommy said he would do it! =)

I believe it will be done. I know a couple of people training for it right now, using a CCS set.

It won't be done anytime soon if the new process is pulling a brand new #4 out of the package and using a CCS.

If it does occur, this person will be replace Joe Kinney as the new legend.

last time i checked in the land of reality legends DO NOT get REPLACED, you can have more than one. that was a rather brash statement. grip training has not yet reached its pinicle as we still have records being shattered, so just wait til guys are only winning because it was a good day for them, not because they were a whole lot stornger than other people. it is a matter of time till we reach the limits of gripping power and i think we have not yet gotten there, as evident by Slim the Hammerman's records looking almost unattainable, and the huge gap between mortals and 1CoC. just take a rational look at this all.

I do think that nobody will actually "replace Kinney" as a legend, but still the boundaries of grip strength will be pushed further than they have been so far.

BUT KINNEY IS A LEGEND, HE WAS THE FIRST ONE TO DO THAT AND THE WAY HE DID IT WAS AMAZING. :rock He is the king of crushing grip and many of us are to thank him for the brilliant and innovative ways to train, he made the job somewhat easier for others. :rock

Ok I see this thread getting into "hot water" already.

Kinney is of course a legend..he is the first 4 cert!

One can interpret my statements in several ways. My statement was tonque in cheek. In other words, the feat will be HUGE if performed. I am sure there were people here that understood what I was saying. ;)

And, yes, there is always that Kinney controversy in the first place. I was ignoring that though.

I think the question can be restated as who will be first person to close BB PRO....although I think Joe Kinney was capable or very close to doing it....given how he grinded the handles on the #4 and the general manhandling of the gripper...

I would think that to be able to realistically conjecture on this, one would both need to be strong enough to no set close a decent #3 and have tried a new G8 #4 fresh out of the package.

I've done neither and am very skeptical that the current criteria for IM's #4 certification are possible to meet.

I think Wes will do it. And I think others could do it to, like Mark Henry. But it will take a while.

Well actually no set close of a decent #3 doesn't mean much regarding #4, it's still a big gap and I'm speaking from the personal experience. Still, I don't see a CCS close of new #4 as impossible, as some people seem to think. Don't get me wrong, I'm not lifting myself up as a candidate for that, as I haven't certified on #3 yet (still waiting to hear from IM) and it's not my kind of thing anyways, but I'll sure as hell will enjoy the journey and will find out what my hands are good for.

Somebody will CCS close that brand new #4, eventually.

And Wannagrip, I didn't take your statement that seriously, othervise I would have expressed my views more strongly.

Do you think it will ever be done, and who will do it?

There's always Magnus. I always think his strength is astonishing.

I agree. He's amazing.

total maniac, some people were born with the ability to close a new #4, we need to find them and when that happens the list will grow.

Ah, you're forgetting something... Magnus has already certed on the #4.

As for Kinney being a legend, he is when you consider HOW he closed that #4. It's out of this world -- something you may never see again! It was just an awesome display of grip strength! :D:bow

I believe Wes and Mat (StalwartSentinel) will soon close the #4 with a CCS.

Wasn't the credit card idea derived from a close that Sorin did 15 years ago, because Randall wanted to know where Sorin was setting it, or something a rather? This is what I might of heard, but I could be incorrect.

Jimmy Hoffa will be the first to cert, followed closely by Elvis and then Tupac, who will cert under the name Machiavelli.
