Which brand of grippers are the best overall? I have only tried the CoC grippers and am wondering which other grippers may be better in terms of build, strength ranges etc.

Rbs are definitely the nicest grippers with a chrome spring etc... but I don't think the IM or Warren's grippers are too far behind in actual quality. I rarely here about a broken gripper from the above makers, and if it broke it was probably modified.

BB's aka Tetting's= Workhorses

RB's=ferrari's

Both are increbily nice grippers.

I prefer the BB's because of the sharp knurling, dependablity, and close. When I say close I mean exactly that, what the close feels like. the Rbs seem to get their strength variations in the parralel to shut part of the close, thus they are known for more varrying. Now dont get me wrong here I love RB's, if someone put a RB and a BB in front of me and said take one I would take the RB.

If your training and closeing grippers get the BB's

If your going to the grip ball the get the RB's

Its all personal opinion, get one of each...

I actually like the ironmind grippers followed closely by tettings. Rb's are very good quality too, cant go wrong with any of them.

Seeing how I only have Tettings and IM.. I would go with Warren.. I love that knurling, feels like it will take skin of it's so sharp (my hands at the beginning of the workout love it, later on is another issure)

Tetting Grippers. He'll make any gripper you want and that new extra sharp knurling makes anything else feel lame.

I have 2 tetting grippers and 5 IM grippers...and after working with them a hell of a lot the knurling on the BB grippers is still real sharp and still digs...the IM ones start to get slick after alot of working with them thats the only thing that I have noted that I dont like about the IM grippers...I have yet to try a RB gripper...doenst he have grippers with handles that arent made out of aluminum...the knurling would last a long time on something other than aluminum I would think.

There is 1...yawn...2 ..yawn..and that is great..but what about "tweeners". BB rules...for tweeners and for knurling!!!

Ironmind and BeefBuilder (Tetting) grippers compliment each other perfectly, they provide a series of gradual steps from one gripper to the next. Here's the rankings of all of my grippers, this pretty much explains why I love both companies.

Wal-Mart Gripper (-4)

IM Guide (-2)

IM Sport (-1)

IM Trainer (0)

IM #1 (1)

BBSA (1.2)

BBM (1.8)

IM #2 (2)

BBSM (2.2)

BBGM (2.6)

IM #3 (3)

BBE (3.1)

BBSE (3.4)

BBGE (3.7)

IM #4 (4)

BBP (4.4)

BBWC (5)

BBG (6)

BBSG (7)

The BeefBuilders definately have the best knurling, I've found with Ironmind grippers I have to chalk up several times during a workout so that it won't slip. With BeefBuilders, a light dusting of chalk and I'm good to go. The advantage of Ironmind is that they're tougher in the sweep than BeefBuilders (my #3's sweep is actually tougher than my BBSE's sweep!), and they're the gold standard of grippers. Many people have said that their exact rankings are different from mine, but still both make nice little tiny steps to go from one gripper to the next.

As a side note I had a little kiddie plastic "dynamometer/gripper" with rankings like "tuff" and "ape" at the top, and "sick" at the bottom and "weak" right above that. I remember that even when I was just a little 6 year old kid I was able to make it click to "ape". Either the toy was just a cute conversation piece or I always had an above average grip. I'd rank it about a -6, easier than the lightest department store grippers.

Man! You must have a SOB of a #3 if your Standard SE is 3.4!

They all do a job but I like the knurl on the WT/BB grippers.

I have IM grippers and BB grippers, I like them both but for different reasons. Smoother knurling that IM grippers have allows me to work TNS more effectively, as I can slide fingers more comfortably over the handle. But when I'm training with deep set, I prefer BB grippers because there isn't any slippage and you don't miss any attempts because of that. With IM grippers that slippage sometimes happends, my pinky might slide of the handle occasionally.

Havent had a chance to get Rbs but out of IMs, Hgs and BBs, BBs are by far the best grippers....from the knurling to the smooth sweep and close......the knurling stays sharp and doesnt get slick as Hgs or IMs...they also hold their spread better than HGs or IMs.. BBs have a lot of steps and Mr Tetting can customize all his grippers unlike others..

BB are good, because of the demountable mounts on it! ( If you know what I mean) ;)

I still wouldn't touch those mounts myself, that would of course mess with the poundage and I don't want that. I feel bad even filing down the handles! I don't even order custom spread grippers, regular BB's are fine as they are. For variety, I ordered ISG. :cool

Funny, I think the RB's although beautiful vary more than the IM's and the BB's.

I agree. RB's are very well made, very attractive, the "Cadillac" of the products. However, for reliability, I prefer Toyota.

I have a RB160 that is much tougher than a RB180.

If you like to collect grippers, and you have an unlimited budget, RBs are the ones for you. RBs were the last grippers I ever acquired, and I have way more of them than BB or IM. I didn't do it intentionally, it just happened that way. I traded away my duplicate IMs, got "narrows", etc, etc. They end up like baseball cards, you just keep getting more of them.

I think pragmatically, you start with the basic IMs, as you work up, get a BB SM, then from there, you start tweeking it, and each individual has their own wants and needs.

I agree. I'm starting to want RB's to see what the fuse is about them.. IM were good for awhile.. then I got the BBSM and fell in love with it..
