kelby
i was just working out with a 8lb sledge hammer, levering, slim style. anyways. my after the workout. i tried gripping the number ones an two. usually i can do twenty some reps with one, and after workout i can only get six good ones. and my twos i cant close. so, levering does work the grip very hard. I agree. I was COMPLETELY wrong about this. I couldn't see how the two would be related at all, but now that I'm doing both levering and gripping, I can now see the light. Levering is very demanding on your grip and the wrist muscles you use during gripping. This was an eye-opener for me.

You better believe it! That's why I do my 12 pound sledge levering, at the end of my gripper workout!
TelegraphKey
I would definitely do grippers apart from, or at least just before (not after) levering. I don't know if gripper work would fatigue too much to do levers, but I know lever work before does fatigue too much for good gripper work after. When the lever is at full extension, the grip is hanging on for dear life!

( i can use 12lb on this.) and about eight pounds on slim style.

While standing with the sledge head by my ankle, I grasp the handle at the desired length and using only my wrist, lift the head until it is parallel to the ground. Repeat.
