austinslater
I have an armwrestling buddy who has done a 25x46 and a 35x15-17 reps. Has anyone else done this many? He is a world class puller and knows a few from the board. These seem incredible to me. Anyone else doing them as of late?

Martin_Arildsson
Is it one or two hands? Even if it's with two hands it's quite impressive!
lifesnotfair
I think most armwrestlers (world class, as he stated) have ridiculously strong wrists. HOWEVER, if among world class pullers, you sepparate the ones with the strongest wrists (the ones you never see pulling with the wrist bent backwards, even if they lose), then you have a guy with with wrist strength to be scared of! jad
The 25x46 is incredible but seems like with a lot of hard training it's a possibility....however that 35 for 17 is just alien. I've never heard of anything even close to that. Other than maybe some of Slim's stuff, that's the most impressive feat of wrist strength I've ever heard of. Anyone else doing them as of late? this all depends on the plates used remember - the 10 kilo plates at my gym are far easier than the 7.5 kilo plates i have at home, you probably could do a rediculous amount of reps on that kind of plate Is there any video of these feats? stratavarious_connection
A one hand plate wrist curl with a 35lbs plate for 17reps is absolutely fantastic!!!
the swiss
Indeed. I would love to see the video. At the last swiss comp we did a TWO hands plate wrist curl (strict) with a 15kg plate (more or less 35lb) for reps and the best result was 14 reps I think. Even plate curls would be impressive (remember David Horne's plate curls with the 15kg plate? 10 of then I think) David Edited August 4, 2006 by the swiss
viper
definately in need of a video i did them yesterday, my best were my 22lb plate (12in long) for 5 reps, an then my 17lb plate (10in long) for 26 reps - i can plate curl a 35..if these are proper reps hes doing, an the plates are of at least of average difficulty, then he must easily be able to plate curl a 45 an then some.. viper
How many reps can he do in this strict style? nice if the question was to me, i always do my plate wrist curls strict, so exactly what i said, ive only done them a couple of times though, reps are going up all the time
jad
The guy in question is one of the best pullers in the world, it wouldn't surprise me if they were strict reps. The other thing is; what if he can only 1/2 that number in strict fashion? Is there anyone else in the world even close to 8 strict reps? Arne
The hardest part in this excercise is to start from the absolute bottom with the wrist maximum dorsal flexed.
paul valpreda
I do plate wrist curls regularly and have always loved them. Those are some incredible numbers! Like the others here, I'd really like to know if he's going through a full range of motion on them. Austin, you are talking about the wrist curl and not the standing plate curl, right? thabull
there are some freaks in armwrestling for sure! it was about the first time i read something about armwrestling. it was steve phipps and i was stunned. i read that he does 10 reps with 150 pounds in a one arm hammer curl and 225 pounds for 20 reps in a 2 arm barbell wrist curl (full range of motion) ! but now i dont (really) doubt it and i know that there are some freaks out there Edited August 5, 2006 by thabull
viper
How many reps can he do in this strict style? after reading through an old thread, it seems this is the most anybody has ever done in a strict fashion! i cant find any videos of any more being done as well, or even another person doing this same feat This talk of 15 or more reps is probably not true then - needs a video or its classed as a no go in my book Just ordered what i think is the exact same plate you were using dude - how long did it take you to accomplish this feat arne? n how many reps on a lighter plate got you to 1 with this? I don't remeber exactly. 1-2 month. Before I train regulary platecurls I can do over 10 reps in this style with a bigger (and heavier) 15 kg plate (Eleiko Iron plate). This bigger Eleiko plate i the best I have been able handle in strict Plate wrist curl. I will measure the diameter of the both different plate types tomorrow. The Eleiko 20 kg (45 Lbs) plate is imuch much heavier compairing to the 15 kg plate.
jad
Arne in reference to plate wrist curling an Elieko 15kg: are you talking about 15kg bumper(same diameter as a 20kg/45lb plate) or just a plate? Thanks
