gather
Ive read a few times about Hammer curls and they r reputed to offer grip gains. Ive started doing them in the gym with 25 kilo dumbells but its too early 2 see any grip gains but there r signs. I was just wondering if anyone has experienced grip gains doing them and what weights they acheived. Thanx

Blackheart
25 kilo dumbells i believe are good. For how many reps? I agree 2'' thick dumbells are excellent for these exercise!

Wes
I like using a 2.5'' D-bell for these.
lifesnotfair
So, these curls only help the grip IF done with thick handles? BTW, what is a hammer curl? Like a regular bicep curl, but with the palm of the hand pointing to a side? Like if you were giving "thumbs up" to something?
maidenfan
Try them like and get some wrist work in while you hammer curl. Even better with an axle or fatbar.
Florian Kellersmann
Another variation is to do them thumbless.
steelbiceps
Try them like and get some wrist work in while you hammer curl. Even better with an axle or fatbar. That looks awesome. I'm gonna do those tomorrow!
maidenfan
Another variation is to do them thumbless. Thumbless hammer curls w/a full length 2+" bar - good stuff.

That's a super idea, I'm going to give a few sets a go around tomorrow. Thanks for the idea. Pete
