Gripasaurus
I'm new to the Gripboard but I've heard alot of people talking about being able to 2-hand pinch 2 25 pound plates, 4 10's, etc. Yesterday I lifted 2 25's one-handed without a problem. When would pinching a certain weight become an "impressive feat"? Edited July 27, 2006 by Gripasaurus
unseenbeat
One hand pinching two 25's is good. One hand pinching two 35's is excellent. One hand pinching two 45's is a world-class feat. Anything above that, and you're doing something that VERY few people will ever be capable of doing. With ten pound plates, it gets a little more complicated. Five 10's is a good goal in the one hand pinch, but due to the width, some people will find it harder thna others. I have small hands, and achieved the feat the first time I attempted it with olympic plates ( I had done it with standard plates before). From what I can tell, five 10's isn't world class, but better than what say a two 35's pinch is in thin pinch. Six 10's is world class, only three people have managed such a lift on this board. Gripasaurus
Ok thanks. When I try pinch lifting more than two plates the middle one(s) slip, What(if anything) would you recomend to fix this problem?

Pinch harder. If the plates are new and slick like mine were a little chalk on the plates might help. - Aaron

Aight, fine, only three people have reported lifting six 10's, along with supplying visual evidence. Happy?

So part of the equation is the sex of the lifter, age, bodyweight, hand size. At least in my opinion. Are you by any chance Alan's son that I met at the Super Grip Challenge in 2002? If so, I remember quite well seeing you 2 hand pinch over half bodyweight (the avatar is the same picture my fiancee took of Jr McCabe that day). I thought then that you would be one heck of a grip guy when you grew up a bit. Good to see you here man.

I'm planning on being a huge grip guy when I grow up. great to be here too.

AnimalCage
I figured Ben would make the connection. I couldn't be more proud of my son. He really hadn't gained any weight in three years (since the avatar photo) and I was beginning to worry. A small kid, a grade ahead, entering a tough urban high school. First thing he does is join the football team, make very large friends, then proceeds to take the biggest ones down on the field. Or at least a fearless attempt, in some cases. He is the first one on the practice field, and the last one standing. He works out whenever he can, and sleeps every chance he gets. I thought he might be a force to be reckoned with in a few years. Apparently, he is a force now..... The avatar photo is Bob at 10 yrs old and 90 lbs bodyweight two-hand pinching 60 lbs (2/3rds bodyweight). Gripasaurus
Today I was weight training and decided to try and accomplish one of my goals. I started with 3-10 pound plates and did that easily. Then I added a fourth plate and did that two handed without much difficulty. I was wondering for someone my age/weight is this considered extremely good or just above average?
