1stCoC Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 Question....................In the video I noticed you tip the blob over almost on its side before it leaves the ground putting the weight lying over on your fingers and not hanging straight down in a vertical pinch. I would think this affects the actual difficulty of the lift..can you lift it straight up? I just tried it for my self and it totaly changes the loading to an easier task similar to lifting a solid block not what the infamous blob made its reputation on. I greatly respect your power and enjoy seeing you in action I would just like clarification as I would have a problem if that was or considered the accepted way to lift the blob.Respectfully RS Quote Richard Sorin, Sorinex Equipment SORINEX.com
DAN PRAYDIS Posted July 19, 2006 Posted July 19, 2006 i have a 45lb york hex that i can lift and i did it both ways and it didnt make a difference to me i think if you have a weak thumb tilting it would make it harder just my 2 cents im still working on my blob Quote JUST BECAUSE ITS NOT ALIVE * DOESN'T MEAN ITS DEAD

steelbiceps Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 Good lift Anson! I think the tilt is fine for two reasons: 1) It's a self-limiting thing. If you try to tilt any more, it just gets much harder. 2) There's no good way to verify exactly how vertical the blob is during a lift. Everyone tilts it -- it's just a matter of how much. Fuzzy specifications are undesirable. If you can grab it with one hand, by the edge, and lift it to lockout, you've done it. Quote Real name: Stan Hunter

Fuzzy specifications are undesirable. If you can grab it with one hand, by the edge, and lift it to lockout, you've done it. Exactly, how much tilt is too much? Almost everybody I've seen lift a blob, whether on video, or in person, regardless of the blob size, tilts it to some degree. Granted, Anson tilted it more than most I've seen and it was more to the side than forward but again how much is too much? This is especially true for those that lift it with the embossment facing horizontal ("Y" on the left, "K" on the right") vs. those that lift it with the embossment facing vertical. Is the issue that he tilted to the side vs. forward,(as this seems to be accepted). David Horne tilts the 2HP using his monsterous wrist strength and it's called good technique (which I agree with 100%), Anson tilts the blob and he gets questioned?? I think this is just another case of good technique being confused with smoke and mirrors or cheating or whatever you want to call it. Congratulations Anson! It's very admirable that you had your name taken off the list but completely unecessary imo. Quote Proud member of the Feat Cheaters Club! Captain of Crush 2003-2011 Josh Dale Wentzville, MO
Anuwbius Posted July 20, 2006 Posted July 20, 2006 Nice lift Anson. Very solid, didnt look like it was goin anywhere. As for the tilt, I agree wish Jad on this one. I cant specifically think of a 50 lb blob being lifted without some tilt. I think if you can pick up a Blob at all, you have a respectable level of wide pinch goin on. Now if you get the thing up with no tilt at all, thats serious stuff. I agree 100% that no tilt is much more difficult. I guess what I am sayin is, tilt with the lift is standard, and no tilt is a progression in difficulty. Only my opinion though. ANd Again, awsome Lift Anson Quote My Gallery Ethan Wolf, CSCS
