BIKERICH Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 I just bought some 10# and 25# olympic pla tes. the 10# is 1in. thick and the 25# is 1 7/16in. thick. when people pinch plates, are they of different thickness or are the plates i have the standard thickness?Just wondering re: pinch pr's and feats. nickr104 Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 It sounds like the plates you got are standard thickness. Quote Nick RosendaulI am a Upser"I slept with John Eaton and lived to tell about it!"

So pinching 4 of my 10's (which are Cap w/sports authority name)would be the equivalent of pinching 5 of 3/4in. 10's. When 10's are pinched or any plates,i guess the combined width is also taken into acct? ERROR!forget what i just said because there is a weight diff How do you standardize plate pinching? I wouldn't worry about standardizing plate pinching, if I were you, I'd just focus on what I could be doing. The stuff where there is the least variance (dual plates, such as two 25's, 35's or 45's) is the best for comparison stuff. Some people will never be that good at thin pinch, I know I myself am not that strong at it, but if you want to compare yourself to people, that's what you have to do. acorn Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 Not sure how thick mine are at home but the damn paint on the 10's is so slick I'm lucky to get 3 10s. I've got 2 35s before that were just as thick. I'm wondering if I should put some chalk between the plates since they are so new and slick, or maybe just drag them behind my truck for a mile or 2. - Aaron Quote ** Retired **
DAN PRAYDIS Posted July 18, 2006 Posted July 18, 2006 in just about every video i have saw the 5 tens being lifted are standard plates and are 3/4 of an inch thickness each plate and if you watch the videos over and over like i have did almost all are coated with chalk almost all plates now are powder coated with paint and thats like slick car paint as for the 25s some people like thick plates and some like thin try both and see what is easer Quote JUST BECAUSE ITS NOT ALIVE * DOESN'T MEAN ITS DEAD

No, the brand is Standard. Olympic plates are what you want for pinching. Quote Tim Myrick "Mr. Lahey, is this you, or the liquor talking?" 'Randy...' *SWIG-SWIG-SWIG* *GULP* '...I am the liquor.'
