Just your everyday grip training....grippers....block weights......levering.....I didnt take an exact thickness I will measure it and let you know but I would guess it at being around 1/8 thick...once you get it started its easy to finish but its getting the initial tear in that is real tough....the technique I used is...if you take your left hand and hold onto the tag with your thumb up and take your right hand and place it above your left hand with the thumb up and grip as tight as you can to keep it from slipping and bending to much and just torque your wrists in opposite directions...I will try to get one on video and let you see if you cannot see it in your head but I didnt think this would be that tough but getting it started is pretty tough!!! In my opinion its harder than tearing a deck of cards!!

Quarterd the N.C. one in about 2 mins.......1/8thed the S.C. one in around 5 mins....gives you some real nice forearm pump and you have to have a lot of wrist torque to make the initial tear in these things...Im sure there are some other techniques out there but this one just seemed better for me.....kinda like one of Clays phone book tearing techniques I think he called it vertical style?? Im not sure.but the left hand grabs the tag with the thum up and then the right hand grabs the tag with the thumb up and is placed right above the left hand and try to the the 2 hands as tight to each other as possible and the you will need to just bend your wrist like doing wrist curls but at the same time you will need to torque your left hand down and your right hand up so they will be pulling away from each other and if your grip is strong enough is will tear!!

What are they made of?

May seem an obvious question, but I'm from the UK and over here they are made from acrylic - you can snap them, but tearing is out of the question!

My best guess is they are aluminum....cheap aluminum at that...or could be some cheapo pot metal but I think they are aluminum here.

There's a pic of Bill Pearl in the book Developing Grip Strength in which he is tearing a car license tag in half. I've always wanted to try that myself!... BTW, good job, Troy!! :)
