Starkmann Posted July 13, 2006 Share Posted July 13, 2006 I prefer to do it with the bell in line with the middle of my body and a bit out front. Some people do it with the bell to one side but it is generally agreed that the latter version is more likely to harm your back. Try it, it comes pretty natural once you have the bar loaded. The straddle is usually a little bit easier but today I was equally strong (or weak) with the bar in front. So you might try both and see which one suits you better.
