Crotchulla
Ok, well here's the deal. About 2 months ago I kinked a yellow nail. I keep trying and can never get it past where I kinked it those months ago. Today I grabbed a different yellow, bend it with almost no problem. Tried again to make sure on a different yellow, and again wrecked it. Retried my old yellow, still no go. Cut 1/2 inch off another yellow, tried my hardest and finally finished that one. One last try at my old yellow, and still no go. They are all from the same batch from Ironmind, I don't understand it. Does anyone else have this problem? Justin Reagan
I have a problem (still do) with finishing off steel that I didn't finish the first time. I can finish straight steel better than I can already kinked steel. Don't know why it is. It may be that I can't perfectly replicate my hand position that I have when I'm going straight through a piece of steel. Not sure. Now that I'm bending G5's, I'm finally able to finish off all my partially bent yellows with ease. Blues and 60ds also, but not quite as easy. Of course, now I have a small pile of partially bent G5's...they'll probably have to wait until I'm at G8 level. Again, I'm not sure why. I would also like to see everyone's comments on this. (FYI, I bend DU) Justin Reagan Edited July 10, 2006 by Justin Reagan
Tim71
I know from longer steel that once it sets for a while it cools and "sets" in it's position. To finish off a piece of already halfway bent steel always seems to be significantly harder. Tim
Jedd Johnson
I believe someone on here said one time that heated steel that is cooled goes through a process call "anealing" in which it becomes even stronger. I could be wrong though. -Jedd-

I could be wrong though.-Jedd- I have a friend that works in a machine shop..and one night while playing cards I showed him a red nail that I bent...and he said that the type of steel the nails are made of actually do get harder after its heated and the totally cools off...so after a 25 or 30 degree kink...if you take a break and the nail cools all the way down it is harder than when you started!! I didnt believe him but I have tried it with red nails and it is true.
gazza
Stainless Steel and Manganese are great to bend because of this, they really make you fight especially on the crush.
