Hazerboy
I train my grip for wrestling. Currently I do mostly thick bar work (deads, pull-ups, curls) gripper training, and pinch grip work (singles and timed holds). However I've also gotten pretty interested in bending. I've bent the green and some rusty looking 60D's I found in my basement, but I'm wondering if this will have much carryover to my sport. If not, oh well! Its still fun and if nothing else a neat party trick. That being said, any wrestler benders out there? (My coach thinks I'm kind of crazy by the way... I do lots of other unconventional stuff, such as sandbag training).
unseenbeat
(My coach thinks I'm kind of crazy by the way... I do lots of other unconventional stuff, such as sandbag training). A lot of older wrestlers are very much marred by tradition. Oh well. Short bar and long bar bending will both complement wrestling a little bit, but I dunno how much. Perhaps the added chest crush strength would help on the floor.
Crotchulla
I don't think it has any direct carryover, but you can't go wrong with alittle extra wrist strength in grappling. I started grip training because of jiu-jitsu, and now I'm on a quest to close #3s, pinch lift stuff, bend bars, and tears cards. So even if it doesn't help too much, its sure fun to do. sideburns
You could always break his arm DO style! lol.... Actually, i think it would carry over nicely...wrist strength is very important...as the wrist is usually a VERY week point in a person. A number of locks involve using the weakness of the wrist against your oppenent. Good luck!
Dude
I wrestle in college and since starting bending I've noticed a huge advantage in certain situations where wrist and hand strength come into play.
Hazerboy
Well thats what I was thinking - I do a lot of arm bars and tilts, and I would think it would be a big advantage on top. Hah - sideburns, thats what my dad thinks I'm training to do: "Your gonna break some poor kids fingers next year!"
