Slider454
Got Kta a few weeks ago and started doing some heavier Block weights...before I started this I couldnt get my #3 but to within an 1/8 and I layed off of grippers for a few days and just layed heavily on the pinch and I just grabbed my #3's and grabbed a co worker and said watch me cause I havent tried this in a few days and boom it felt like butter and slammed it....it was only one rep but I held it for at least 20 secs....makes you feel awesome!!! now just to get a bit better at it!!! By the way it was a MM set....not CC set just to clear that up! Edited March 7, 2006 by Troy Smith II

Slider454
Never messed w/ block weights, how do they carry over to grippers? And nice job closeing the #3. I think that block weights of any kind carry over well to grippers because your hand gets strong as a whole and the kewl thing is that you can train your pinch grip and it doesnt really kill your hand so you can pinch pinch pinch and you will still more than likely be able to close your current gripper. rying
Been hitting blockweights hard for a few weeks and my wide pinch is waaay into new PR territory beyond my expectations! Gripper strength is down. I do a few singles on grippers to warmup and usually miss the SM I used to absolutely dominate. I focused on wrist work for quite awhile (grip intensive--thick handle stuff) and that seems to have sparked some life into my wide pinch, but not grippers. Everyone is different: it seems the "conjugate" approach doesn't work for me--I have to put my focus on whatever lift I want to improve. Hopefully after some rest and a cycle on grippers I'll see some carryover (from bringing up the weaknesses)?
