BigT Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 (edited) what's a good nail for the first time? I did bending a long time ago briefly and just stayed with grippers. Double underhanded my green tonight with IM pads, might not be the best but feels great to me Is it common to use double underhand? and what's most the most common nail bent when people start bending? the green or above when just beginning? Man my goal this year was set at the yellow nail, hope I can set that higher now Stay strong all and thanks for any help you can give a newbie bender Edited January 4, 2006 by BigT Quote 2007 Main Goals..Crush:MM1 cert Pinch: Break 2 35's off ground Wrists: Bend Blue Overall: Rolling Thunder 175 "You don't wanna see me when I'm angry...I don't know what I'll do"
EricMilfeld Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 BigT, you're off to a good start! Double under is not nearly as common as double over, but some seriously impressive bends have been performed double under by some of our board members. A few guys are actually stronger with this less popular technique. Experiment and find what suits you best. Read the pinned topics above, as well as the wealth of info available in past posts. Fire away with any specific questions as they arise. By the way, I'd say a Green would be considered an average first time bend, maybe a bit better, even. Quote
com202 Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 When I first started bending I used DU and I couldn't even get a White nail. I worked on the technique and I made it to the Blue in short order. I don't think you will have any problem with getting up to the Blue in a month or so, if not quicker. I switched to DO when I got the Blue DU, just to see if it worked for me. The technique takes a while to dial in, but my bending is starting to sky rocket. I am lucky enough to have Eric as my bending partner. I got a 60d recently DU and it felt pretty good to go back to DU and set a new PR with that form. Like Eric said, feel free to ask questions. He has helped me immensely. I would also be glad to help in any way. You are doing great, BigT. Left Side Posted January 5, 2006 Posted January 5, 2006 BigT make sure you come back to this thread after a few months, you have a good laugh at how you thought the yellow would be hard for you. Expect to have a Grade 8 at least by the end of the year, mark my words! Quote
