heatwave13 Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 (edited) How would you all rate your 2005 in terms of meeting your grip and/or other strength goals? I had a pretty decent year during the first half. I finally own the #2 and can close it any time I want and I set my deadlift PR as well. On the downside, I injured my right rotator cuff (tendonitis only) and that really put a damper on my overall training from around June up to right now; I'm still recovering. I lost some motivation and resorted to only doing power cleans and running sprints--this went on for about 3-4 months. The break may have done me some good, however, because now, I feel ready to attack the weight again, including working on improving my #3 gripper. I would love to close it but it feels soooo far away right now. My 2005 comes in at about a B- Edited January 2, 2006 by heatwave13 Quote ..yes I like Dixie, well ain't it fine here..I like to pick my guitar down at Hank's BBQ and drink that Shiner Boch beer..down here in Dixie, there ain't no doubt... just listen to me, cause I know what I'm talking about..
Soilworker Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 2005 had its ups and its downs for sure. Most of my goals were not met but I am happy to be in good health and training and I think that is what matters. Quote AKA Jeremy

mindovermatter Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 2005 was the year i was introduced to grip strength and to the gripboard, i started august or june. Thought i was never gonna close the #2 but i finally got past it and closed the super master i hope to cert with the #3 before this time next year. Bending wise i started out not being able to bend an 1/4 by 8'' hrs to getting a 5'' blue so i guess that went pretty well, i hope to cert with the red before this time next year. Pinch went ok i never really liked pinch that much but i broke a 45 lb blob off the ground about 6 inches or so, that was a surprise, i hope to increase my pinch but i dont care too much about lifting the blob although its an awesome feat of strength and i would love to be able to do it. Quote 2006 goals! Close Grand master( ) Cert with the #3( ) Bend a grade 5 bolt (Done! 2/13/06) Cert with the red ( ) Lift the 45lb blob (Done! 1/21/06) Lift the blob( )
heatwave13 Posted January 2, 2006 Author Posted January 2, 2006 Mindovermatter, that's great on that 45 lb. blob! I would love to find one of those and add that to my game. Left Side Posted January 2, 2006 Posted January 2, 2006 April 2005 was the introduction into grip and bending for me. Started off able to (barely) close the #1, unable to bend the white, and could not pinch 25's. At the end of the year, have closed the Grand Master, bent many G8's, and pinched 35's with ease. Grade: B+ Quote
bencrush Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 I've been training grip since the early part of 2000 so I'm not new to it all. But my gains in 2005 were the best by far. Most of my gains were made in 2005 for sure. Hopefully 2006 will see a lot more of the same! Here's a few things: Certified COC in May. MM1 in September. RB300 Close at the BBB in October. MM2 in November. 331 vertical bar lift in November. Double #3 TNS Close in December. Hope it continues for us all guys. Quote

BigT Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 For me great year, I had little goals but closing my Avg.#3 last year was great and by far the best Quote 2007 Main Goals..Crush:MM1 cert Pinch: Break 2 35's off ground Wrists: Bend Blue Overall: Rolling Thunder 175 "You don't wanna see me when I'm angry...I don't know what I'll do"
supermagnamon Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 I graded myself a "F", since I posted my goals, so high. If only I knew what I know now back then and if I trained with Handgripperman, earlier in the yr, then I would kick some @$$, but hey, that's experience. Now, I know what it takes to get to the next level. Quote Real Name: Ronnie CastroBlog: http://www.thebigfilipino.com/blog.html
