Pinch Gripping 4x4" Compared To A Hex?

Recommended Posts

Hi, I have been using a 4x4" beam to pinch grip for the last week or so. I attach weights to it and am now up to 55lbs. I have no idea how good or bad that is. How does a 4x4" beam compare to a hex? I have sanded the beam to make it very smooth and less easy to grip.

I think a hex would probably be harder to lift because it is more than 4" across. I might nail another piece of wood to the beam so that it is the same width across as a 50lb hex. What does a 50lb hex measure from side to side?

Thanks

You can't really compare a Hex to pinching a 4x4, since a Hex for a wide grip and the 4x4 is for a narrow grip. Unless you use multiple 4x4s, then maybe you can get a more realistic idea on what you pinch, once you add the weight and divide by 2.

Super, I don't understand. Multiple 4x4s? Do you mean pinching 2 at the same time? That sounds impossible. Surely you mean something else.

Do you know what a 50lb hex measures from side to side? I want to nail extra wood to the beam so that I know how far away lifting a 50lb hex is. Thanks.
