One Handed Deads

I am curious as to what you get more out of? One handed deads while straddling the bar, or standing like a conventinal pull.

Peronsally I feel stronger conventional, but I feel stronger when I do deads lift on a hammer machine.

My best to date is 225 straddling, and 255 conventional.

Enter the zone, feel no pain, dont hold back, and all the power in the world is in your hands...

I would say straddle or suitcase style.

One hand deadlifts are great there are so many variations to the lift.I mainly do straddle style as it isnt as hard on the lower back and doesn't interfere with my squats and cleans etc.

My best on a farmers bar with a regular grip is 431lb and 360lb on a standard cambered bar which is a real killer

Brooks Kubik wrote a great article on one hand deadlifts in the JUNE 1997 Issue of Milo

I like the suit case style with the farmers walk handles.

It's a great core and grip workout.

Suitcase lifts with an EZ curlbar are good, the bar being easier to balance than the much longer 7' Olympic bar.

I like suitcase, since it involves more core.

Are you guys using a hook grip or are those numbers with a regular overhand grip?

I wish I had a fat bar to do em on. Blimber, you do em on the fatty?

Do them in as many different ways as you can. I have developed good all-around strength using the straddle, the suitcase and the conventional styles (all with one hand).

Mustle Turtle - if Blimber means Climber - then yes I do. I use more 2.5" dumbbels than my Axle but I still use it as well.

I like suitcase and what I call shotput DL, stand w/ an open stance and twist back to the power position and lift

Great and terrible are things

That feed on fear

Afflicting all the weak,

Sucking up their tears

Drain the life from those who cannot

Stand the night

Demise will manifest as assassins of the light
