radar2760 Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 I'm just returning to training after 20 year break. I just bought the HG- 100, 150, 200's for my boys (teenagers) and I. I have read the posts on grip springs and poundage rankings. My boys can close the 100 easy, the 150 hard, and cannot get the 200. We just got them today. I have not lifted anything heavyer then my hands to a keyboard till recently but I can close the 200 no problem (probably a bunch of times). I cannot afford to buy lots of grippers, so my question is can I just buy the C of C #2 or will I have to but one of the intermediate grippers to accomodate my boys. Is it too big a jump? One odd note, thought it would be easier with my right (stronger) hand. My hands are small but fat, and my right hand is thicker below the thumb, and it seemed to get in the way a bit. The left felt right in the slot. Great board. I can't wait to try some of the stuff here when I get in some reasonable condition. The bending looks fun. The other night I was in a store and put two 25's together to pinch to see what that was like. The two 45's must be quite a challenge. I look forward to your reply. Quote
twig Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 The HG150 to the #2 is quite a jump, but they could use the #2 for negatives whilst they work on the HG200. Quote Be nice until it's time to not be nice-Patrick Swayze, Dalton, Raodhose. R.I.P.
j.scribner Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 Radar- welcome. You're never too old to make positive changes in your life, and strength and grip training is a great way to start. Get into an overall strength training program, and watch your grip strength get better!! Add a little cardio for the heart. And enjoy and treasure your teen sons, particularly if you share this common interest. John Scribner Quote The way you train is the way you react. OldGuy Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 My advice is to buy the Ivanko supergripper, which is little more than the cost of a single gripper. Quote Not afraid to ruffle feathers!
Muscle Turtle Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 stck with the HG's, they are cheap... get a 250 and a 300... my 250 is just below my #2, and my 300 is about just below my #3. Quote Enter the zone, feel no pain, dont hold back, and all the power in the world is in your hands...
Bearcat 74 Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 OldGuy is right, if you don't want or can't spend a lot on grippers, buy an Ivanko Super Gripper. Lots of different settings and hand positions for basically the price of 1 regular gripper.
