honk Posted December 24, 2005 Posted December 24, 2005 Its and idea from german deadlifting legend Rudi Küster. Check it out: bottle gripper Quote Christoph Koch
Starkmann Posted December 24, 2005 Posted December 24, 2005 Shows me how much more German I have to learn I have een doing this general motion fr some time now. Basically anytime I got a plastic soda bottle. I can tell you they don't hold up that well and you would need to replace the bottle at least weekly. Other than that, I can see why adding the little gauge at the top would be a nice addition. It would give you an objective number to beat. Not a bad idea overall. GatorGrip Posted December 24, 2005 Posted December 24, 2005 You gotta love our sport, we are the only athletes that can buy their training equipment at a hardware store, always the on the look out for something big odd and heavy to lift, and destroy anything from decks of cards and frying pans to phone boos and horseshoes. I have tried to squeeze those water bottles filled with air hard enough to pop the cap off not yet - ha ha and probably never because I think the plastic expands some one it reaches a certain pressure level. I then take the bottle and twist it in two like I am a clown about to make a balloon animal. I twist a bubble on the end and try to twist until the bottle blows like a bag full of air. Fun but not exactly a feat of strength. I might have to make me one of these poor mans hand dynamometers. Quote SOME OLD SOME NEW CHECK IT OUT! http://www.youtube.com/user/strongmanfeats

apttdwler Posted December 26, 2005 Posted December 26, 2005 I like the guage idea. Any ideas on type of gauge and attachment. Maybe one off a floor pump? I also like the feel of a choke hold on a two liter bottle. Give a bit like a real neck:) Quote http://www.geocities.com/fightraining http://fightraining.blogspot.com/
FatBoy Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 Very nice little toy he's got there. Every time I empty a plastic water bottle(12 to 16oz.) I close the lid as tight as I can. Then grab the top of the bottle with one hand and the bottom with the other and twist each hand in opposite directions. The bottle will crush and twist in the middle and start to look like a bow-tie. I turn and turn until it starts to slip in my grip, someday I hope to make the bottle pop form the pressure. Maybe some of you monsters out there can or have done this. It sure would be a cool party trick. Quote God didn't want the Irish to rule the world so he invented Whisky. Real name: William McCaslin
