Number Ten Ox
I was adding weight to my Blob and found I could lift about 15 pounds more with my palms facing away from my body. Is that normal? Does anyone do two handed pinch with plates palms away? Is there a good reason not to? Could you do it on the euro pinch device for a record? David Horne
No. Knuckles have to be forward. David
Number Ten Ox
Because it's easier with plams facing, or just to make it uniform?
bdckr
If I'm picturing correctly what you're doing, then yes, it is easier. When you lift with palms out, the blob/blockweight will be at a bit of an angle, with your fingers more underneath it than on the side. More of the weight is resting on your fingers, letting them carry more of the weight. You need less of your thumb, and since it's usually the weak link, you can carry more weight. I think you can get the same effect with a palms facing you grip if you tilt the bottom towards you when you lift.
