Gripper Strength Exageration

I found this on the Armwrestling Super site: It sounds like something SyberSnott would tell somebody in a bar:

Grippers: I recommend the Heavy Grips grippers, as these are like no other gripper you have tried before! Wheras sporting goods store grippers provide you with between 10 and 50 pounds of resistance, these grippers provide you with between 100 and 300 pounds of resistance! You will not believe the strength levels you can achieve by training on these grippers. If you can close the 200 pound gripper, you are able to CRUSH most people's hands in a handshake, and if you can close the 250's all the way I DON'T want to shake your hand! And don't even think about the 300's, because only about ten people in the world have EVER fully closed them!

I assure you shaking my hand puts you in no danger. :rock

It takes some good strength to shut the HG300. It's a respectable feat. But the number is more like 1000 I would think. He is just going by the GripperKing site probably. It leaves me wondering: If the HG300 gives you deadly power, then the ability to shut the HG400 must surely give you "superhuman" abilities.

I frequently go into bars and exaggerate about the grippers! :cool

I also keep my eye on the front door, looking to see whether or not someone like Dave or Clay would walk into the joint. If they do, I look for an quick exit. :whistel

Know when to hold 'em... know when to fold 'em... ;):laugh:laugh

don't shake my deadly hands because I can close the 250 for 15 reps. hehe ;) . and yeah btw, i have a 2005 #3 gripper and it's really hard (1/2 inch away though :D ) but my HG300 is almost the same power and my 400 is weaker. Why?

I remember reading it too, specificly the part about not wanting to shake hands, it might have been on T-Nation ?

Speaking of Sybersnott, I saw this while searching for the original ad, I would think most people have seen it because it is on Cyberpump.

Currently, there are just over 100 men on the list of official #3 closers. Included on the list are strong man competitors such as Magnus Samuelsson, The Gillinghams (Brad, Wade, and Karl), powerlifters such as World Record Squat holder Brent Mikeskell, and others unknown to most in the weight game such as John Hicks. What these men on the list have in common is a crushing strength that to most normal people seems out of this world when they try and close a #3 gripper. Most people fail to even make a dent in closing it with both hands and using their whole upper body strength as well!

That's also rediculous, I remember reading that before I got into grip, it had me worried.

So far, almost everyone I have met can chest crush a #3, and athletes do it easily.

This is the kind of thing that keeps people away from different kinds of strength, such as grip and nail bending. They look at it and beleive the urban myths, and they think they will never have a chance, so why bother?

The truth is that almost anyone can bend a red, or become a MM0, if they just beleive the can, and then dedicate their time and energy to train for it.

my hg300 is harder to close than my friends hg400. i think its just because the handles are huge and it stops short of the final close. if you put regular handles on it than it would probably be a bit harder than a 300.

Hey, what can I say? My fame is far reaching :rolleyes which probably goes to reason why I seldom venture outside of the U.S. - I would get mobbed by my many crazy foreign fans (not to say I have a lot of fans IN the U.S., I do - it just gets nutty outside of America for me!) :tongue:D
