Rory
I am 17 and just started bending nails. I have just started 5/16 grade 5 lag bolts. My wrists are hurting something fierce. The bone is aching and I keep icing it, but it hasn't been working all that well. Suggestions??

Oldtime
First off, stop bending lag bolts. If there what i think they are, they are dangerous. I would buy some yellow and blue nails from ironmind and see how you do. Take it slow. Edited December 5, 2005 by Oldtime

Dude
Yeah. I started with 1/4 from Home harware about two weeks ago. Now I am trying out 5/16 and I am a hurting unit. ← 5/16 g5 is a pretty big bend unless you have something different. Your wrists probably will hurt from trying to bend over your head. take OT's advice and start slow or you'll regret it soon. Have you tried 60D's yet? Clay Edgin
The lag bolts he's talking about aren't the regular hex head bolts we're all used to bending. They are the ones with the full spiral up the shaft. Take some time off from bending. Don't do rehab, don't worry about ice, don't do shot rotations, just put the stuff away for a week. Have you tried 60D's yet? ← As Mr. Edgin said they are the ones with the full spiral going up the shaft.I must apologize for the misinformation. I am not at all familiar with bending.. The reason I even picked up a nail, or HG is because I saw Clay's profile on HeavySports and instantly admired him for his exceptional feats of strength. Again I apologize for the misinformation. May I ask what the difference is between the zinc coated bolts and Hex's?
Clay Edgin
Rory, I appreciate the respect but please just call me Clay. The normal bolts everyone bends have about an inch of threading at the end, several inches of plain steel, and then the head. You'll find the lag bolts are pretty easy. Are they breaking at all? I would have thought that with the spiral flutes in it that it would break past a certain point. But I've never done one so who knows. Check out some people's galleries on this site for different pictures of bolts and once you have rested for a while hit the hardware store looking for some more. Left Side
After you recover go to the hardware store and pick up: 1. Six inch spiral nails 2. 60d 6" nails, (no spirals) 3. G5 hex head bolts 6" (as Mr. Edgin described) Try these out and let us know how you do.

Looks like I need to make a trip down to the harware store, as I am just looking at some people's gallery photos. Also I am looking at buying the COC #3 and 4 but I have heard that the difference between the HG 300 and COC #3 is night and day. True? Soilworker
Also I am looking at buying the COC #3 and 4 but I have heard that the difference between the HG 300 and COC #3 is night and day. True? ← Most HG300s will most likely be in the range of a Super Master, which is a theoretical "2.5", the gap between a #2 and a #3 from Ironmind. Some people have reported their HG300s to be on par or besting their #3s. And consequently some have HG300s that are apparently a joke, being very easy comparitively. HGs vary a lot, but your #3 will most likely be considerably harder than a HG300; just remember to season the HG300, it will season a lot.
