SantaClawz
Hey guys, Its been a long time since I have been on these forums. Unfortunately, I have been thoroughly busy with a lot of things, but I have now mastered the #2 CoC gripper, thankfully. Now that I see myself approaching the #3, and getting closer and closer (my original goal), I am unsure of what to do after I do master it. I originally set out to begin my gripping career with grippers, as I was using KTA and couldnt do any other gripping at the same time, and then I intended to move on and conquer other fields of lower arm strength (I call it lower arm instead of hand because I am interested in wrist strength also). So, now I have come into a predicament. Since I spent my time with grippers, I don't know much about the other fields of lower arm strength. When Im done with grippers, I plan to mantain the gripper strength while moving on to other areas, but Im unsure of which. Can you guys each categorize hand strength and then describe feats or broad categories of excersize for each category? For example, pinching - pinching plates. Also, can you guys describe training techniques for wrist strength? I have the wrist rolling and levering down but I am wondering if there is any other important area of wrist strength that I am missing. Finally, what are some excersizes for finger tip strength? Thanks for any help you can offer, S.C. P.S. I am not specifically interested in feats, but rather, areas of strength. For example, finger tip/gripper, etc.
Clay Edgin
That's a pretty tall order. I don't want to sound like a jerk but you would get a lot more information by using the search function and exploring the different aspects of hand strength. There are also a number of essays here and on the Diesel Crew site that should help.

For fingertips, why not hub lifts on plates?

Mr.Moose
I'm pretty new to this stuff myself but I think if you add block weights and sledgehammer-work to your gripping you should be pretty much alround. Atleast it's a strarting point. Claes Ps. Bending is bloody fun aswell!
ruffhans
i started out just as a gripper guy also. john brookfields book is what got me moving from grippers into other relms of strength and training for my grip. if you dont have it i would buy " the grip masters manual" also. if you go to "iron mind" they seem to have everything listed for what you need. i know what it is like to have a hard time catagorizing everything too. there seems like so much out there. i would do what others say about searching trough the site also. but if this helps here is what i did. sit down with a cup of tea or coffee and rite down your goals. next rite down all the parts of grip that there is. hand,..fingers-fingertips-openhand-crush-support-thumb-extensors. wrist, and forearm. then findout what excersizes work them. if you have a #2 down i would go from there to making sure your pinch grip (thumb), is up to par also. it will come with time. if you come here enough you will learn boatloads!! and one thing i did for awhile is do an exercise that works everything at once. in my o.p anything with a thick bar does the trick. i use to just hang from a 2 and a half inch bar and my grip, thumb, forearms and wrist all went up in strength. it wont work fingertips or extensors but everything else. now if your looking to findout what feats or excersise are impressive for each part,......grip-A#2 or#3. thumb-pinching two 25lbs plates or more, the blob is always good. finger- if you can roll two 6lb balls around,or three regular chineese balls upsidedown. wrist- levering an 8lb up to a 15lb hammer is very good or bending a 6d nail. fingertip-pushing your fingertips through a potatoe is realy awesome, but if you can do 15 good fingertip pushups i would say that is good too. or even threefingerd pushups. riping a deck of cards is good for the whole hand aswell. once you start getting into feats of strength you realy are working all of your arm. exept for grippers and pinching, you need a lill of everything for other feats. hope this helps.
